I-129F Packet Questions

Hi everyone -- I'm very excited to be doing this, following the VJ instructions and tips for putting together the I-129F packet to send to the California Service Center next week -- and I have a few questions:

1)Using the templates for the Letters of Intent, is it OK for each of us to use the exact same minimal language, or is is OK to change it up a bit to make it seem more individually and personally written, or does it really matter?

2)Choosing samples of a voluminous email correspondence to document our ongoing relationship, does the content of the emails factor into it, or just their existence over the given time span? I was tempted to include everything, but edited it down to a small sampling of the larger volume -- is that good?

3) Photos as well, it's hard for me to be a 'minimalist' and not include everything! I narrowed it down to five photos of us together on our visits, one of them if Fátima with my two children, and the other four are us together, 2 in Portland and 2 in London.

4) Is it good to number the pages of the packet and make a table of contents, or it that going too far / too obsessive?

Thanks for any help and reassurance ! !

I used the same minimal information. Use the "KISS" methodology.

2)Choosing samples of a voluminous email correspondence to document our ongoing relationship, does the content of the emails factor into it, or just their existence over the given time span? Little from each month is what I did, spanning the entire length of convo.

3) Photos as well, it's hard for me to be a 'minimalist' and not include everything! I narrowed it down to five photos of us together on our visits, one of them if Fátima with my two children, and the other four are us together, 2 in Portland and 2 in London.

I think I had 4 photos. This is more important at the interview - so have your Fiance(e) take more at that time.

4) Is it good to number the pages of the packet and make a table of contents, or it that going too far / too obsessive?

You can - but I didn't.

Thanks for any help and reassurance ! !

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

WARNING: Phrases in this post may sound meaner than they were intended to be. Read the Adjudicator's Field Manual from USCIS

I agree with Bobby+Umit

1) We used the "canned example". (Later on for the interview I submitted a "Reaffirmation of Intent to Marry" for which I used more of my own wording.

2) Same - a few from each month over the time frame. (I dont recollect having any content in my emails that I was worried about anyone reading so I sent tham "as is".

3) We did a little frontloading so I included about 50 or 60 photos laid out in power point then printed onto paper with dates, places, people, events, etc...

4) I didn't number the pages but I did include a "Table of Contents" listing all the documents and the order in which they were contained.

If your wondering what frontloading is - is sending in more than the required info that established your proof of meeting. Some choose to also send in proof of ongoing relationship at the petition stage becuase it gets more info in front of the consulate prior to the interview. We felt it would be beneficial in our case since we were going through a particularly difficult consulate (Vietnam).

GOOD LUCH AND BEST WISHES!

I had a table of contents (more for my sake of keeping it straight than theirs), and 2 photos each from his trips to the U.S. Mostly because I love photography and forgot to ummmm have anyone take any photos of ME in Scotland...ROFL.

I would not obsessively front load. It's just a lot of extra work for you.

this is what we did:

1. We used a template for the letter of intent. Is ok if you make a change, but, of course do not forget to mention the intention

2- little from each month

3. My fiance sent 6 photos. But when I had the interview I showed at least 15 photos

Good luck in your VJ!
