It's one of those things where...you've been drinking sodas with that ice your whole life, probably even ate a few pieces here and there...and never thought a thing of it and been fine. But now that you know...that changes everything!

Why does it change everything? Have you ever gotten sick from it? We all have an in-built tolerance for certain levels of bacteria and toxins and constant exposure to these elements maintains our tolerance (immunity). In fact, if we were to try to live in a manner that was completely sterile, that would actually be bad for us.

Yes, you're right about us needing the bacteria. In fact, I had heard about a study of babies that found those who were most "sheltered" who never got sick within the first year of life ended up with more health problems overall. Now for why this changes everything, I guess it's because every time I would drink a soda with ice all I would be able to think about would be drinking toilet water and I personally couldn't deal with the mental image. I know we need a certain amount of bacteria to keep up our tolerance but I figure most of us get plenty of that from other sources anyway.

Don't let the sunshine spoil your rain...just stand up and COMPLAIN!

Good point Karo. I usually scold the dog when she pulls that #######, but maybe I shouldn't worry.

Bear in mind, restaurant toilets are usually disinfected every day after closing by the custodial staff.

Home toilets are not. Well, at least not mine. More like once a week. And I'm not sure that it makes that much of a difference if a toilet has two people dumping in it or twenty. Maybe it does but I'm not sure.

the water in the toilet may be clean - however, what about the toilet itself? has anyone done a study on how clean the toilets vs the ice machines were?

i think it all equals out in the end.

What made it worse, Agent Smith, was the conversation of choice at lunch revolved around people's previous bad experiences with this place we ordered from-how one time they sent a deli tray with moldy bread and a dirty top (delivered by a drunk man) and salads with wilted lettuce.

Still waiting for our cards...Had to file I-90 as they sent them to the wrong address.

March 9th, 2010, Received GC that has been lost in the mail for 10 months. Still waiting for my son's that is lost as well.

Filed Waiver for my son's 10 year GC and it was approved. He finally received his GC after its been missing for 2 years.

Thanking God this is over for 10 years.
