I think its sweet what you are doing by actually going there & supporting her in the interview process & then the major move to a different world then she is use to. If hubby never would of never been to the states, I too maybe would of gone there to fly back with him.

Your wifey has never been to the states, right?

thanks. she's been thru so much already with all the waiting and running around for documents. least i can do is help her move. nope she's never been to the states...honestly we never thought it was going to take this long. funny it seemed that everyone was getting their USCIS approvals in 3 months (not you or me tats! for us it was 5 f*****n months plus!); if we had gotten ours in 3 months (by jan end) she would have probably had her interview this month or maybe even last month...oh well, no point in thinking about what could've-been; we're all here now! at least she wasnt pregnant and gonna give birth! Tatyana, i still dont know how you did it, girl!

Hobo,

How far before wifes interview does she plan to go to VFS?

dont know actually...apparently, according to vivek and kirthiraj, chennai doesnt really have a whole lot of VFS involvement other than paying them some stupid fee. chennai embassy lets you bring in docs, like your medical report etc. i was curious about that too, since the 1 doc that we didnt have to submit to NVC, but will likely have to for the embassy is the local police stattion PCC (we only submitted passport office PCC). i wonder if we just do that at the embassy (probably) at the time of interview. neither raj nor vivek did anything much w/ the VFS...probabl 1 nice thing about chennai...apparantly they're also a bit nicer too. i hope all these allegations turn to be true!

I agree! Looking at some ppls timelines they sure got lucky! But true, we can't dwell on what could have been.

I somehow did it but yet, Gisele is the one that had to suffer because of mama's stress & her being born early. But thank GOD she is okay!!!!!

I too am confused about that process. I wish Mumbai was like Chennai where he can just go & pay the fee & worry about the rest for the interview. He called them & they are requesting stuff from him. AGGGGG! I read somewhere they can hassle ppl for no reason. I hope it wont be the case with him.

Dawn, I think your medical is fine. Just to be sure, e-mail the embassy today and ask if they have received it and not misplaced it. You still have a little bit of time to request a duplicate from the doc if there's been a mix-up.

Tatyana, for docs, I think whatever VFS said they want is what you need to bring. Confirm with Vivek, Raj, or Sachi, though.

And....

HAHAHA. Yeah, its kind of hard to keep your sexy voice on when your battling static or just a bad connection!

Thanks for the encouragement for us to be calm. Sometimes we get so caught up in our worries and fears that we forget to just breathe and enjoy the fact that we have someone to love.

Unfortunately, not all embassies are created equal. Not everyone is allowed to be at the interview with their spouse. Nor are they all accepting of body language as proof of a legitimate marriage.

So we bring pictures and chat logs and 500+ pages of mostly-yellow-highlighted phone records to show that we talk to our loved ones on a daily basis.

I'm happy that you're comfortable and confident bringing the evidence that you will.

Personally, it's worth it to go through 2 1/2 reams of paper, 2 ink cartridges, and 4 jumbo highlighters. AP at Bangkok is #######. There are no status updates. There are no answers no matter how many e-mails or phone calls you make. Congressmen get mostly the same vague answers petitioners and beneficiaries do. There is not a second interview option. What you get is an FPU interrogation in either December or January, with about 10 days notice, where the petitioner's presence means more than any answers given. Bangkok is not a difficult embassy. Generally, the COs are respectful and efficient in their work. The interview is real, and even though they have an opinion, they are open to changing that opinion. They will accept additional evidence submitted during the actual interview that was not submitted to the prescreeners. They don't take #######, though, and they don't accept body language or lovey eyes as proof. In fact, it's all that paper and ink that you submit which determines what their initial opinion of your relationship is going to be.

For people like Vanessa going through Casablanca and Cheronda going through Lagos, it is a whole different game. Even for those of us going through nicer places like Bangkok, the advice that body language trumps physical documentation of an ongoing relationship is not likely to be received well.

Thank you again, though, for your encouragement for us to be calm. That is something we could all stand to keep in mind.

Good luck at your interview! I can't wait to hear the good news!

hi bears,

i wish you luck on your process :D

i did not know that they have prescreeners there, that is not fair, one shall defend what he has declared!

But I come to VJ to freak out.... everyone is on the same boat here. If I can't freak out with you guys that understand me 100% what else can I do? :(

We're here to freak out with. You're gonna do amazing, hon! No theatrics at the embassy because you're going to get approved.

It's good, though, for us to be reminded to calm down. Remember Sachi? "Calm the EFF down." ? It's good.

Thank you.

I agree; I don't like that they form opinions before meeting with the beneficiary. At least they're open to change.
