Just got home after my interview. Visa Approved!

I wasn't asked for any of the things I brought with me, it was a 15 minutes process of first the Visa Assistant looking over my papers, and then talking to a Immigration Officer for a few minutes. He only asked me a couple of questions before telling me he had no doubts about the validity of our marriage, and telling me I'd recieve my passport back in 2 - 3 days with the visa in it.

I don't know if I would admit to not having a wedding or that the "real" wedding will be a year from now. I'd hate to face the possibility of the CO telling you to come back after you have your real wedding.

What I would do is tell the CO that there was a wedding but it wasn't a full blown wedding that you had dreamed of due to circumstances beyond your control. And you plan to have this wedding in about a year's time.

I respectfully disagree. Only because it is a blatant lie. There was nothing that would even slightly resemble a wedding. There was the signing of a marriage certificate; it was similar to signing an affidavit, only it took 2 hours and wore on my husband's patience to the point I had to intervene. That absolutely is not a wedding to me. We don't even have any pictures of it. The one even showing anything of marital union is a picture of us showing our rings at the airport. Unless the CO wants to see one of my thongs.

As for circumstances beyond our control, I can't see that being bought. Only because the CO might ask, if the circumstances for a full wedding were not favorable, why not wait? We weren't pregnant. He wasn't in a harmful situation that necessitated him being brought to America in a timely fashion. We are two greedy individuals who wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. It might even look worse, because Husby is a successful lawyer and we could have waited as long as we like.

SPS, thank you so much for your advice. I appreciate you coming back to share and value your experience. I just have to disagree with you on this. Husby is going to take an oath to tell the truth. Even if that gets him put in AP, he's going to have to do just that. I'll definitely go over our relationship evidence with Husby one more time. Maybe we have more things we can add.

Can we add VJ posts to show how much of a mess this has made me? If I didn't care, I wouldn't be freaking out. Hehehe

I have a lot of respect for you and for what you are doing. However, isn't a CR1 or IR1 a "marriage" visa? That's what you might have to answer to. Many people have on going relationships but that does not mean it's a marriage. I think your intent is honorable, and I'm praying that the CO will have similar understanding.

I don't think it matters if your interview lasted 15 minutes, or 5 hours. The truth is always fixed. Love stands and no matter how much someone tries to sneak a trick question, the answer will always be the same.

That's what I thought you were thinking, too. Coming from your experience of being granted 2 visas, I definitely take it into consideration.

We have our marriage certificate to prove our marriage. It's recognized by the governments of Thailand and My State.

To me, a wedding doesn't make a marriage. I had a huge affair with my first wedding. 400+ guests. An American ceremony. A Thai ceremony. Partying until nearly 3 AM. That marriage was effectively over within the first 10 months, even though we stayed living together for 3 more years out of a misguided concern for our son. That being said, a marriage certificate doesn't make a marriage, either. I had that the first time around, too. I find in Husby many things that were missing in that first marriage. So we have pictures and letters and our attempt to sustain an intercontinental marriage.

I guess I'll just have to see what Husby says about it. I may think one way, but he's the one who has to interview. One concern of ours has been that while we believe many of the same things, we don't follow the same religion. That's been something we've been thinking of in planning our wedding next year. Perhaps he can present that as an honest, but reasonable answer. Thank you for your prayers. May they be heard and granted.
