good luck! btw, did either you guys (kirthiraj and you) get an official interview letter from your respective consulates and tell you to submit docs to your local VFS offices? ie, after we got our interview dates assigned, what is the 1st piece of correspondence you receive from the consulate? kirthiraj, i'm assuming this is the 1st piece of mail you've rec'd from chennai? my wife and i are wondering when we will be told to submit docs to our local VFS. she just got her local police PCC today and so now we're set in terms of having all our docs in hand. sach, did you get a letter saying you have to submit docs to your local calcutta VFS? thanks

p.s - i suppose i can email chennai about it...also, i know that packages have left NVC to consulates all over the world, including chennai. but how do i know when mine's been sent? do they send out the packages AFTER the interview date has been assigned? ie should i track dhl after the end of, say next week or this week?

I did not recieve any communication from Chennai consulate. Probably because there was not much time between my interview scheduled and actual interview date.

Between my wife did confirm with VFS that a photocopy of your passport biographic page can be used to pick up your passport from VFS window.

Hi,

I got the appointment letter as a soft copy and the photocopy of it will serve the purpose.....Yes, the letter which I got today was the only mail from the embassy and there is no indication for me to submit any docs except the Fee to the VFS here....I think those who have thier interview in Chennai need not to produce any docs to VFS instead carry it for the intw.....

Raj

Awesome! thanks a lot Raj. that really helps!

ok another situatio a bit more complicated - me and wife originally met and got married on september 2nd last year in a small non-religious ceremony that was not planned (for various reasons, time constraints being one of them) in bangalore. we basically had a western wedding (ring exchange etc in front of about 40 witnesses). we went ahead and got our marriage registered in september in bangalore (ie this is our official wedding date) with the caveat that we would have a more traditional hindu wedding in december, which we did last december 2nd (in kerala, not in bangalore). we have pics for both weddings and all, however wedding invites were only printed out for the 2nd wedding. all the traditional wedding stuff (like the walking around the fire etc etc) were done only in the 2nd wedding.

our official wedding date is september 2nd as per our registration and marriage certificate. question is how do we explain this to the officer at the interview? will this send red flags? i'm afraid that if we explain this to this level of detail that they may ask us for evidence (although other than pictures and videos, i'm not sure what else they could want...perhaps more affidavits? we could ask the restaurant manager in bangalore where we had our ceremony to give us one...). i'm just inclined to tell them we had 1 wedding in september and print a sample card out with the september 2nd date, and just show the december wedding pics - that way the topic doesnt get asked too many more questions and the CO just moves along the interview. what are people's thoughts on the matter? my friend who used to be a former CO, says that you could say that you had a small ceremony to solemnize the wedding and get the immigration paperwork started, but that may sound too much like getting married for the sake of getting paperwork done and i dont want to say that.

making a 2nd wedding invite is cake. the december wedding pics dont have any date or time stamps and has no indications that it took place in kerala as opposed to bangalore (a wedding hall is a wedding hall is a wedding hall anywhere; so cant tell the difference)...

p.s - the reason it was done that way was that my wife and i had met on a matrimonial website, had a relationship for 2 months before deciding that we were right for each other and fell in love (yup, unbelievable, but that is exactly what happened, in such a small span of time). i decided to have to go see her in september not planning for a wedding. but she was so perfect and things were so right that we decided to go ahead and get married (yes, indeed to get the paperwork started early) in a civil ceremony and then have the big-fat-indian-wedding later on in december. hope that gives more of a history...

Wanted to share with you guys my beautiful morning.... so I wake up, the interview is 15 hours away, and call Hubby. He tells me a little story about his day,and I almost had a heart attack.

He got 8 missed calls, so he called the number, turns out it's US Embassy calling him. So he called back and spoke to a guy who reviews cases before interview, and the guy told him that he is calling because the paperwork is incomplete - they are missing certified translations of military record and birth certificate. (I spoke to two NVC operators and they both said as long as I send in originals in the language of that country I don't need translations) apparently you do... So they guy asks hubby if he would like to reschedule the interview, unless he wants to get to US Embassy like "right now" pick up his originals and get it translated somehow today. So Hubby says I'll be there in 15 minutes, goes there, waits for 2 hours, picks up originals, drives to the translator and beggs her to finish it all today. So when I called him he was picking up the certified translation and now is all ready for the interview.....

I can't believe they called. They could have waited and told him at the interview that he is missing papers, but they didn't.... I am sooooo grateful... And Hubby also said that the guy told him that he has never seen such a huge file :)

Wow, my heart would of stoped! Bud kudos to your hubby that he got such a quick turn around & great job to the Embassy that they wore nice enough to call before hand then waiting to them him all this @ the interview.:thumbs:

Hi Guys,

I got a letter from Chennai Embassy stating that they have every documents pertaining to my case and they asked me to bring additional proof for the ongoing marital relationship (like wedding and other photos, invitations etc), VFS fee receipt and Medical Report.....Did u guys received this kind of letter from ur embassy's......

Raj

Hmmm thats interesting. But good thing they told you before the interview. I wonder if its just Chennai or should I be worried about Mumbai too.

I received the P4 from Mumbai as well, Kirthiraj.

I have to get my wisdom tooth extracted on Friday evening. :(

Ouch! When hubby comes, I have to get all 3 extracted & I will do them all at one time :crying: One thing I am not looking for since hubby's arrival.

sorry i haven't really been in a good mood to come on here because i been busy trying to find someone going to PI so they can take my parent's AOS so they can go back to Manila from the province to turn into the embassy...ugh!...i don't see a point in giving them another "copy" of it because I double checked & triple checked everything...all info is the same and the form is the most updated, i even threw in new paystubs for them but at least they will receive it on may 9th, travel back to manila on the night of may 10th since embassy is closed on may 10th for elections and turn it in to them on may 11th...this is such a hassle for them and a waste of money just for them to travel their...

...i hope everybody is having a better day than i am...happy bday to me :bonk::bonk::bonk:

I am so sorry to hear that!

hi, we had more than enough evidence and what not but i guess the CO wanted to be an a$$ & make things harder for them since they requested for an interpreter because they couldnt understand his english well but god bless him...these are only trials and we will soon be over this...at least its not a denial :star:

yes i turned in a 2009 tax return w/w2s & transcripts, 2008 & 2007 transcripts

Damb CO! But yes, try to stay possive its not a denial, whew!!!!

Wow, my heart would of stoped! Bud kudos to your hubby that he got such a quick turn around & great job to the Embassy that they wore nice enough to call before hand then waiting to them him all this @ the interview.:thumbs:

His heart stopped when he called the number and turned out it was the embassy... even better when he called back he was told that they are closed for lunch and to call back after to find out what they are calling about.... so for an hour he was going crazy...I am soooo glad I was sleeping while all of this was happening.... :bonk:

Awesome! thanks a lot Raj. that really helps!

ok another situatio a bit more complicated - me and wife originally met and got married on september 2nd last year in a small non-religious ceremony that was not planned (for various reasons, time constraints being one of them) in bangalore. we basically had a western wedding (ring exchange etc in front of about 40 witnesses). we went ahead and got our marriage registered in september in bangalore (ie this is our official wedding date) with the caveat that we would have a more traditional hindu wedding in december, which we did last december 2nd (in kerala, not in bangalore). we have pics for both weddings and all, however wedding invites were only printed out for the 2nd wedding. all the traditional wedding stuff (like the walking around the fire etc etc) were done only in the 2nd wedding.

our official wedding date is september 2nd as per our registration and marriage certificate. question is how do we explain this to the officer at the interview? will this send red flags? i'm afraid that if we explain this to this level of detail that they may ask us for evidence (although other than pictures and videos, i'm not sure what else they could want...perhaps more affidavits? we could ask the restaurant manager in bangalore where we had our ceremony to give us one...). i'm just inclined to tell them we had 1 wedding in september and print a sample card out with the september 2nd date, and just show the december wedding pics - that way the topic doesnt get asked too many more questions and the CO just moves along the interview. what are people's thoughts on the matter? my friend who used to be a former CO, says that you could say that you had a small ceremony to solemnize the wedding and get the immigration paperwork started, but that may sound too much like getting married for the sake of getting paperwork done and i dont want to say that.

making a 2nd wedding invite is cake. the december wedding pics dont have any date or time stamps and has no indications that it took place in kerala as opposed to bangalore (a wedding hall is a wedding hall is a wedding hall anywhere; so cant tell the difference)...

Reading all that got me paronoid :(

Hubby & I just got married at court on a Monday. Only witness there was my sister & a friend. Afterwords we went to my sisters house because they wore having a BBQ, no it wasent a party for us or anything.

That day did not really feel like our wedding day because I am still planning on having one in the future. We did all that so we can file K3 but not K1. My mom did want to plan a wedding for us but I didn't want to plan something last minute as I want the wedding day to be perfect.

So I have nothing other then the wedding certificate, ring receipts and pictures. Should I worry?
