btw, should I be worried about the following:

I have not filed my 2009 taxes but did file an extension

I forgot to print the IV bill receipt and even though the interview letter states it is paid, they also said they wanted proof

and that's it. Also, should my wife bring another DS-230 application? or will they use the one they already have? :help:

Absolutely bring proof of filing the extension for the 2009 taxes.

Who is "they" that said they needed the IV receipt? I would be safe and fax/email a copy to your spouse if you have it.

I'm still confused on the reasoning for using another DS230 at the interviews, anyone else know about that? I checked, and the one we submitted says it's good through 2012 and I haven't read anywhere at NVC or our Embassy about requirements for a new form. So we are just sticking with what we submitted with the original applications. Also, check with the folks in your regional forum about that.

Sometimes consulates won't even ask for the latest tax return. Other times they do. If at all possible file your return now and fax a copy to your wife with attachements, etc.. It's better to have a tax return in place than having to reschedule due to a lack of documents. If I were in your shoes I would file my returns today, and then do an amendment if you need to add or delete something. Most important thing is you have something to show to the consulates if/when they need it. If the person interviewing your wife has synergy with her, everything will be fine. But if it's a case of a good consulate having a bad day, s/he will ask for every bit of detail that can and will create unnecessary delay.

There's no need for another DS230 because the very first thing the consulate will ask you to do is take the oath and right after the oath, the beneficiary will be asked to sign the original DS 230. You can just print a copy of the original DS230 and give to the beneficiary to take.

There's a lot of redundancy in this process because the United States gov't is keen on checks and balances in paperwork.

For example, in Cambodia, the beneficiary is asked for a new set of passport photos on the interview day. There was no notice of this in the interview email/letter or anywhere else. They just ask for it anyways. If we hadn't brought the extra passport photos we would have had to come back another time, or leave to get them taken. Then right after the interview, the consulate handed the set of passport photos that we sent to NVC juts a month ago. Why they didn't just use the ones sent to NVC we don't know but that's the way it is.

This is important.

Give a copy of "everything" you sent to NVC to the benefiary. Get new passport photos taken and take to the interview. MOST IMPORTANTLY, make sure the beneficiary understands in detail about the petitioner so have the beneficiary study the biographic information about the petitioner. What's the name of the mother, father, brothers, sisters in law, etc.. What are their birth dates. And also the address of the petitioner in the united states and all the addresses s/he has lived in the past 10 years. These questions will be asked if the consulate is looking for a reason to delay or refuse your case. FINALLY, if you are going to say that you spent hundreds of dollars on phone calls, make sure the beneficiary knows the phone number that she called or called from.

thanks everyone! I do have a lot of faith in God that everything will be fine. When you want something badly, it is best to leave nothing to chance. I will actually be flying down for the interview as well, hopefully, I'll have internet access to inform this forum immediately. On the application the phone number listed for my wife is the number that is on the phone bills. We talk all the time, and judging from the bills, we talk too much. :D

Anyone did the medical test in chennai? They didn't give the medical report in the sealed envelope. They are saying, they usually don't give it in the sealed envelope. But website says it should be in the sealed envelope. Who is correct? Anyone received the report in the sealed envelope?

Also chennai VFS is not accepting any documents and they wants just the vfs courier fee only. They are saying that, since the case is handled by NVC, they don't accept any documents. Which is true?

Driving us crazy...

Anyone had any experience with chennai medical test and chennai vfs?

vivekjay would be the perfect person to answer this as his wife just got her visa yesterday. but my understanding is that since you're so close to the interview date, you may just be able to take the medical report in with you the day of the interview. vivek's wife apparently did just that...vivek?

Wanted to share with you guys my beautiful morning.... so I wake up, the interview is 15 hours away, and call Hubby. He tells me a little story about his day,and I almost had a heart attack.

He got 8 missed calls, so he called the number, turns out it's US Embassy calling him. So he called back and spoke to a guy who reviews cases before interview, and the guy told him that he is calling because the paperwork is incomplete - they are missing certified translations of military record and birth certificate. (I spoke to two NVC operators and they both said as long as I send in originals in the language of that country I don't need translations) apparently you do... So they guy asks hubby if he would like to reschedule the interview, unless he wants to get to US Embassy like "right now" pick up his originals and get it translated somehow today. So Hubby says I'll be there in 15 minutes, goes there, waits for 2 hours, picks up originals, drives to the translator and beggs her to finish it all today. So when I called him he was picking up the certified translation and now is all ready for the interview.....

I can't believe they called. They could have waited and told him at the interview that he is missing papers, but they didn't.... I am sooooo grateful... And Hubby also said that the guy told him that he has never seen such a huge file :)

And Hubby also said that the guy told him that he has never seen such a huge file smile.gif

jesusss...Thank God that they called him
