Thankyou all so much for all the well wishes. I still havn't been able to get a full picture of the interview yet. Wife has been busy going to VFS, hotel check outs, train ride back home etc. Plus her cell phone signal is not that great on the train so the call kept dropping off. So will try to put together a brief review based on the bits and pieces that I picked up.

She reached the cosulate around 7.50AM for her 8AM interview. She was called to the first interview window around 9.30AM. She said the Indian lady at her window was really sweet. There was another man at a different window who appeared to be rude and the whole time she was waiting, she was praying not to get him for the prescreen. The lady asked for our interview letter, passport, wedding photos and wedding invitation cards. There were some basic queestions like how did we meet, when did we get married etc.

She was not called in for the interview untill around 11.30 so it was kind of a long wait. She was interviewed by a woman of East Asian decent. She was very polite and friendly. The whole interview lasted 10-15 minutes. Again it was all basic questions like. When did we meet, who made the first contact, How often does your husband visit, have we travelled together. What she plans to do once in US. I will post the exact questions later. They did not ask for any additional proof of relationship or a single document that we carried. The consular never asked about the 2009 tax returns. Wife was out of the cosulate by around 12PM.

Wife was not able to pick up the passport from VFS the same day so it will be mailed to her. All in all I think except for the long wait time it was pretty straightforward and an easy interview.

Thank you again all............. Let the good news keep rolling.

I'm good. I picked up my passport yesterday from the regional passport office with Mr. Sachinky's name endorsed on it as my spouse. Today, I went shopping to take my mind off things. I mean, serious shopping!

I think all my documents will be in order by Friday. I will then use the weekend to review them.

I'm flying out Tuesday morning to Mumbai.

Thanks for the quick review, Vivek!

Thanks for sharing that! Glad it went smoothly for your wife! Does she know when she will get her visa/passport?

She should have it by Friday. They take 2-3 days. She would have been able to pick it from VFS tomorrow but we already had her train tickets booked for tonight.

Very exciting! Well now you have a more exciting count down going & you can actually relax & forget about anything related to USCIS (you wore there way to long), NVC, Embassy & other horrible words that pertain to that dark time in your life.

What for? They merely took photocopies of all pages of the passport. Looked at the original. And put a sticker at the back when giving me my receipt. You have to carry your passport with you to the Consulate on your interview day. Otherwise, you will not be granted entry.

We are not from Chennai so decided not to spend an additional day to pick up the passport from VFS. If we stayed an additional day we had the option to pick it from VFS window the next day.

No VFS does not keep your passport. You will need your passport for your medicals and to gain entry into the consulate. VFS just looks at your passport and puts a round sticker on it and gives it back to you. Not sure what's the purpose of the sticker.

I think it's simply an indicator that you've gone through them and at least paid your courier fees.

:dance: Hurray Hurray for Vikek and BB/Thansur!!!!!

So happy for you guys!

I had my medical today, and afterwards I'm wondering why I was so nervous! It took 50 minutes for everything, the doc did a check first (looked in my ears, puls, eyes, reflexes ... that sort of thing) then sent me to a different place to do my x-ray,then came back, gave 'em some of my blood and that was that. It'll all be done and at the Embassy by friday. The annoying thing about it b eing so quick is that I had ticketsbooked home 6 hours after that..but I managed to get around that too. One more week to the interview now,now that's something to be freaked out about! (I will most likely take that back afterwards, I'v heard the whole interview-thing is like 30 min long in Sweden) Well,my friends, Good Luck to us!!
