As a result of the DS230 being updated, it is recommended that all applicants carry a completed DS230 to the interview using the most recent version. ;)

OK I have to vent here about the DS-230. Why can't they make it save-able? Why can't they let us fill it out and save it with the information?

It would have saved me (ha ha ... saved... pun unintended!) the trouble of sending it to the wife over FedEx. I could have just e-mailed it. Then she could have printed it.

I did my taxes and the 1040 and all Schedules allow you to save data. So the IRS is up to speed here.

It is time for the Department of State to embrace new technology.

You are saying that we need to fill out a new one with the same exact info, the beneficiary needs to sign it (not US citizen)and take it to the interview? Why would we need to send a new one? I thought that the beneficiary signed the Part II at the Embassy on the original DS230 we submitted months ago.

My wife went to the VFS in Cochin today. She carried all her documents just in case if they asked to submit anything. They said they did not need anything other than the courier fees. They looked at her passport and put a sticker inside and returned the passport and the interview letter.

While she was there there was another family ahead of her. I think the petiotioner was a nurse and she was intending to immigrate to US with her entire family. My wife said they had to submit all the checklist documents for each family member. My guess is they did not have to go through the NVC process.

I think at this point it safe to say for Chennai applicants you don't have to submit anything to VFS other than the courier fees. This is ofcourse if you don't have any changes to the original petition submitted to NVC.

One more thing out of the way yes.gif

In all likelihood you submitted the latest form. But just to be sure, download it from http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3194.html and then compare it to what you sent.

I had the same frustration with the DS 230 as well as 864EZ forms... Darnell suggested to use FoxIt reader. Works like a charm! It allows you to save the form with the filled-in data.

2010-06-29 - Submit docs at VFS office.

Sachi, is that the different/newer form you were talking about on this link? As long as the expiration dates are valid, we are fine using them until those dates. This link is to the 2/29/2012 DS 230...PHEW! Don't scare me....don't need any new :wacko:

I have a MacBook so the FoxIt and CutePDF option is not available. Oh well... I filled and printed them out.

hey sachi just checked the online site...finally got a SIF...hope i get a date in june real soon now...what do you think?? case was completed on april 2,2010...

ds-3032 received by email : 9th dec,2009

emailed ds-3032 : 10th dec,2009

aos fee bill : 9th dec,2009

aos fee shows paid : 14th dec,2009

case completed : march 15,2010 and then april 2,2010 again...strange confirmed with operator.

Congrats, Nesh. What's your consulate again?

If it's Bombay, expect an interview date for June during the week of 26-30 April.

If it's Chennai, expect an interview date for June during the week of 10-14 May.
