Hey all,

Quick update. I'm back in the good ole USA. Been sleeping odd hours. We have a new apartment so we have been crazy busy shopping and fixing it up. Running errands. I won't have internet access till this weekend so it's been kinda hard for me to post stuff, but rest assured I've been following everyone's progress on Mr. Sachinky's Blackberry. Yay for Smartphones! It's so nice to be back in the U.S. with him -- God, when I saw him at the airport it was like the last nine months simply melted away. Will post my POE experience review soon. Take care and good luck to all Week #4ers!

awesome! guess you went to collect it in person, huh? did you call vfs ahead and tell them to not courier it and just that you would come and pick it up?

my wife called up chennai and asked them what to submit to the VFS in bangalore - they said just the 387 Rs. i was a bit surprised; figured that they would ask her to give the medical report, but i guess she'll just take everything to the interview on the 10th. at this point, i dont know what the point of the VFS is - if you can pick up the passport yourself, then they're just making money for nothing...figures...

anyone keeping up with the latest ridiculousness with the indian govt and how they're treating PIOs (ppl of indian origin) who are US citizens??? any US citizen of indian origin applying for an OCI card, or any kind of indian visa has to cough up another extra f*****n 175 US dollars to get a stupid surrender certificate saying that they renounced their indian citizenship; never mind the fact that when you get US citizenship, by default, you surrender any other nationality. more reasons to just get the h*** out of India and the indian system...no wonder they're seeing the brain drain, with all this kind of BS and nonsense...

Ya, VFS fee is unnecessary for the people who can collect the PP in person.....i dont understand this stupid concept.....BTW i called them to chk my PP status and the guy who spoke asked me to come and collect the PP at counter or it will take couple of days to reach u thro courier....to reduce my antsy, i went there in person to collect my PP leaving behind the 390 bucks which i payed to them.....

MSP, I hope you'll still be on VJ? I know I would like to know what happens with this whole thing and I'm sure others are interested as well. Have you heard anything in the past few days?

I'm not going anywhere, I just need a little time to not think so much about what I am missing right now. If everything had gone as planned, hubby would have been here on Saturday, and I just don't want to think about it anymore. I will definitely keep in touch, and see this through to the end. If my story can help just one person escape this stupidity, it would be worth it! Thanks so much!smile.gif

Hey hobo, I dont think we need to go to the VFS and submit anything, my wife's interview is on JUNE3rd at 8am.. and she is taking her medical reports and rest of the stuff to the consulate( including her new pcc )

And about OCI yeah i did hear about this new rule( thank god i got my OCI lastyear ) now my uncle is trying to get a visa and for this also they need that renounciation certificate... thats crazyyyy/. think its another way of making $$$$ for the indian govt.

yes at least its pretty clear about the VFS now! they just want the 387 f*****n rs money - that's all. even though you can pick up the passport yourself. just a moneymaking scheme, that's all...

ya dont get me started on the f*****n surrender certificate man. it just gets me sooo angry. pure and simple - just a way for them to make money. that's all. and not just like 10 or 20 bucks, but a 175$ !!!!! give me a f*****n break :bonk: :bonk: :bonk: it would be one thing if they tell you about this before you apply for your OCI, but what is incensing is the fact AFTER they grant me my OCI AND print my cards and sticker ready to be picked up, they tell you this s***t!

Sorry for all the obscenity, but its the only thing keeping me from being worry free about attending my wife's interview on the 10th. the NY India consulate is having a special emergency "camp" on saturday to people who have trips coming up. lets see if i get it then...it starts at 9 am, which means i will have to be there at 6 in the AM itself. thank God at least its a holiday on monday!

that's awesome you were able to get the 3rd date and get everything sorted out; man i know exactly how much running around your wife must have done, since mine went thru the same thing. Best of luck to all of us!!!

Once in awhile, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairy tale - My beautiful wife Soni
