Here's the VFS link. Look up your local VFS. CALL THEM. Do not bother emailing them. They will tell you what you need to bring along exactly 7-10 days before the interview.

All local VFS offices ask for a new DS230, SOME ask for a NEW I-864 as well.

I will be submitting an I864 because of changed circumstances before the interview.

Hope this helps someone!

Hey Sachi........ Where did you find this information that all VFS locations request a new DS-230. If you find any link please pass it along.I checked with Lji who had his interview last month in Chennai. All he did with VFS was submit the courier fees and nothing else. I have been reserching the Chennai consulate website and Chennai VFS website and there is no mention of submitting anything to VFS. I understand if you need to change anything then it makes sense to submit them to VFS. If nothings changed from what was submitted to NVC I really don't understand what business VFS has other than send your passport.............Agrrrrrrr this VFS thing is so confusing blink.gif . I tried calling them but its a holiday in Chennai.

Between wifes Medical has been scheduled for April 30th

Hey, Vivek, honestly? I don't know. I am just preparing what the Calcutta VFS asked me to bring.

I've had a bunch of extremely nice VJ people email me their VFS receipts when I was in the NVC stage so I could prepare for what was coming up next. All of them had the DS230 marked on it, some had the AOS.

I do know that you don't *have* to submit anything to VFS. The payment of your courier fee is your confirmation of your interview date. I've read of one case on VJ--maybe it was Lji?--that they didn't have the time to prepare anything for VFS, so they just paid the fees and took everything to the consulate. Most people however, don't like to take that risk so they submit it beforehand--besides, it gives the CO some additional time to look over the stuff. There have been cases where they've refused to look at stuff during the interview and asked the applicant to go back and submit it through VFS.

I plan to submit some of the evidence as well, if they'll take it.

Hope this helps. :star:

Thanks Sachi. I will wait till tomorrow to call VFS once they are back from vacation. My only concern about submitting additional documents to VFS was I will be submitting the exact same documents and the consular officer will be reviewing the same thing twice. One from NVC and one from VFS. Anyway if needed I have everything ready. Will keep you guys updated on what Chennai VFS has to say.

Sachi could you PM me the VFS receipts you talked about? Especailly if you have one for Chennai. Not exactly sure what these receipts are.

well the packet 4 of the american consulate, mumbai says that "if you wish you may submit your documents at the american consulate on the day of the interview but you must pay the courier fees at a VFS office". i think the VFS asks for all the documents they can lay their hands on. Instructions with them are generalised and not case to case. from what i have read in several posts here is that VFS are just contractors and most of the times they are not updated on the consulate requirements. so i think that i will go as per the nvc appt letter and the pkt 4 of the mumbai consulate. at the most i will submit is a photocopy of all pages of the passport, photocopy of the original documents submitted to the NVC (to enable the consulate to replace the originals with the photocopies and return originals to me), passport police certificate (this was the only item marked in the NVC checklist A (acquire this document and present it at the interview), medical cover and the courier fees. The other documents ds230 i & ii and i864 and photographs - i think i will take to the interview and submit, if asked (since these have all been submitted once at the nvc and have been accepted by them and the entire file of these documents are at the mumbai consulate now).

my apprehension here is if we load the VFS with a lot of extra papers and in the midst of it, some important paper or cover is lost and/or misplaced then we will have to go thru the process of acquiring them again. in fact, i am even apprehensive of handing the medical reports to the vfs and contemplating to carry it to the interview. and i am sure even if we do submit all the documents at the vfs, most of us are again going to carry an extra set of everything with us to the interview.

please correct me if i am wrong.

Because these receipts belonged to other people who were kind enough to email them to me, I deleted them immediately after viewing them and writing down the requirements. They are no longer in my possession. I had about three or four of them, can't really remember, and it was basically the same requirements. Medical, DS230, photographs, passport photocopy, interview letter etc.

Really NOT a big deal. Give them a call and see what they say.

The receipts contain whatever you submitted to VFS as proof. You have to take that receipt and your passport (in which they will put an orange sticker) to the consulate on interview day.
