dominicana pc says that are only valid for 30 days but for immigration stuff it's valid for 6 months

Tat, Brazilian's PCCs are valid for 3 months, but the Embassy accepts for one year.

I am actually no longer worried about it. I emailed Abu Dhabi Embassy & this is what they replied;

Dear sir/madam,

The police certificates are usually valid as long as you do not go and live in that country after obtaining the police certificate.

In some cases however, if consular officer feels that a fresh certificate is required, then the consular officer may request you to bring a fresh certificate. A compete answer can be given only at the time of visa interview.

why dont you guys relax for the interview?? since your husband has submitted the required papers to the vfs and received the receipt - he is good for the interview. ok? forget about the small things like the sticker on the back of the passport. they are just logistic stickers for the vfs. not the applicant's concern. you got the receipt for the documents submitted and the cash receipt, that means you are good for the interview (please take the vfs document receipt and the cash receipt to the interview). now you have pushed the envelop - so there should not be much for you to do but just prepare for the interview. just go thru the ds 230 info and prepare on and around it. if you think you havent submitted enough documents to the nvc or vfs, carry them along to the interview. if that will put your mind to rest.

about the police certificates, here is the link from the mumbai consulate and it is also included in your packet 4 instructions (if received) : http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/media/pdf-visas/info_sheet_packet_4.pdf

see in the section : police reports. they say police certs are valid for one year. extracted : "These certificates are valid for one year from the date of issuance". regarding dubai certificates - i think since he hasnt been to dubai for the past 2 years - the ones you submitted are good enough. i think they are mostly interested in your recent indian certs and they are the ones that will matter most to them.

so i guess, at this point of time you both should take it easy now or....................... . all the best!!

if even till monday you are having sleepless nights over the sticker on the back of the passport - you hubby can go to the vfs with the pp and vfs receipts and ask them why there is no sticker on the back of his passport. ok??

you have pushed the envelop - and there are a few days left for the interview - personally, i do not think its a good idea at this point of time to call the consulate for clarification about your certificates. in all probabilities your certificates are good for the consulate and they may have not have given it a second thought. calling them up and bugging them and raising doubts over the validity of your own certificates either over the phone or at the interview will certainly raise a red flag and it would be a clear invitation for the co to hand you a 221g. just calm down now and tell your hubby not to volunteer any info at the interview in all the nervousness and excitement. just answer truthfully all the questions put forth by the co. thats it. you will make it thru.

i have also read somewhere here someplace that at the interview even after being approved, an applicant had blurted out something and the co called her back and immediately handed a 221g.

Tatyana................The reason why the consulates ask for a new PCC after 6 months of its issuance is because someone might get into trouble with the law over that 6 months period and they want the new and updated one. However your husband has not lived in Dubai for over two years so what new evidance they can possibly get from an updated Dubai PCC. Just think logically and take a chill pill. You are golden for the interview. Encourage your husband for the interview and not fret about the little details. The fact that your husband has not lived in Dubai for the last two years is cleraly indicated in your DS-230. The consulars are no dummies.

If they are asking for a new Indian PCC that makes sense since your husband currently resides in India. But Dubai? Seriously? You are going to fly through the interview and you wil be with your husband in no time. Now enjoy your weekend and don't worry.

I called Mumbai Consulate several times to clarify a bunch of things but I NEVER identified myself by name or case number. I wanted to know how long the PCCs were valid for (mine were crossing over 6 months and I was wondering if I should get new ones). But I didn't want to specifically tell them THAT and then have them say, oh, yeah, you need new ones.

I too when I emailed the Abu Dhabi & Mumbai Embassy PCC question, I didn't put down my hubby's name or case number unless they would research by my name but I doubt they have the time.

We bought hubby's tickets over the weekend. India to JFK. If he gets his visa the next day, he is leaving on the 9pm flight on May 26th.

Just have to buy the ticket from NY to Seattle. Hope it wont be too expensive last minute.

hey guys! I am loving all the positive outcomes this month. Yesterday at 4:20pm, my beautiful wife landed at JFK, my sister went to pick her up while I was preparing to surprise my mother who had no idea. It was a wonderful reunion, it feels as if my family is now complete. Thanks for all the support. She has to go back to Aruba to tie up some loose ends but she is scared to travel without the green card. so we'll see.......
