Agree with what Natalia said.

Call and find out whether you will be allowed inside during the interview.

Also check out the embassy reviews for your country to see if the presence of the USC is recommended.

3) I called them. Took a while to get through. They specified a list of things to bring. What they do, is they help you sort your papers, send some of it onward to the Consulate so the CO has some time before the interview to review the files. Ask Amit to CALL them or turn up directly there. They will put a sticker on his passport and give you a receipt that must be taken to the Embassy on the day of the interview.

IF you don't mind, please share what they told you to bring & what exactly do we turn into VFS? You will turn it in 7 days before or?

Tatyana--I will have to submit it 15 days prior to the interview since I'm going from Calcutta. I think it's 3 days prior to the interview for local residents but I could be mistaken.

This is what they asked me to bring:

--DS 230 Part I and II

--Medical

--Photocopy of Marriage Certificate

--Photocopy of Birth Certificate

--Photocopy of both PCCs.

--Original Passport

--Photocopy of EVERY page in the passport.

--Rs. 387 for courier DHL fees.

--Interview Letter from NVC

--2 US visa size pictures.

I will also be submitting a new I-864 at this time.

So I found a ticket for hubby from JFK to Seattle & its only $197.50 & I want to get it so bad! I think prices will go up but because I don't know the date when he will get his visa makes it hard. I called Delta & they said if I wore to have to move it up couple of days ahead or vise versa it would cost $150 plus the difference in ticket price

What do to?! To wait till the weekend and be on the safe side tickets are too expensive on the weekends. Hmmmm

Everybody! Remember to carry another form of PHOTO ID besides your passport to the interview in India.

You will need the other one to collect your passport in the evening from VFS.

Thank God I´m visiting hubby or I would be seriously freaking out right now!
