i had a bad experiance in amsterdam when i was on my way to egypt to marry my husband, when i was getting ready to get on the plane and going through custums or whatever a man pulled me out of line ,, ask me why u going to egypt? i said to marry my fiance, he was like "oh u are one of them women?" i was getting angry but trying to hold my composure, i said what kind of woman do u mean? he said " sweetie youll figure it out after you bring him to usa and he laughs and says oh in a couple of years youll get this meaning" i was furious!!!!! i said are we done cause i need to get in line to catch my plane and hes looking at my passport and says wait here, so i waited ,, then a woman came to get me and took me in this lil room thing she said the man dont believe this is your picture in passport, i said miss,, i took this pic befor i became a muslimah and i know i look different with hijab on but look at my face u can see its me, she said just take off ur hijab and let me look, soooooooooo i did it real quick and she said ok you can go now,,, i was so angry,, i got her name and i got his name, went to egypt called the airport and made a big stink about it, i dont know if it did any good butif people dont start complaining about how people are treated at the aireports it will continue on so my advice isss, complain and tell them !

Just despicable! After reading all these entries from other VJers I wish my original response had been a bit harsher.

When I returned from Malaysia last year alone from our honey moon this year in January:

Officer: 'purpose of visit'

Me: 'honey moon with husband'

Officer: looks over my shoulder, 'where is he?'

Me: 'on a flight home to Quetta'

Officer: 'Why didn't he come with you?'

Me: 'Because he doesn't live here yet, we have a pending IV case'

Officer: 'why didn't you just get K-1 visa?'

Me: 'because we didn't know one another before marriage, met and married here in the US'

Officer: pushes the issue

Me: 'I'm very tired sir, is there anything else?'

Officer: walks away with my passport, came back in 5, opened my suitcase, commented on the contents and returned my passport

Who knows what he was even looking for?

I think most of us, non US or US citizens have had their fair share of hassle at POE.

I have been travelling to the States about 4 times while dating/being engaged and I noticed they only go as far as you let them.

The first time I went to visit my then bf, I had a CBP mix my papers with someone elses and accused me of lying and making fun of him when my answers about when I was intending to return to Germany didn't match with the ticket/visa he had in front of him.

I got questioned for almost an hour until someone walked in and had MY papers, looking for me. You'd think the officer who questioned me realized his mistake but he just went on and on and on.

I almost lost it cause I was about to miss my connecting flight. I was pretty sure he would continue until I missed my flight just for the fun of it so I told him very politely but serious that if I missed my flight, I'd be right back here and go straight to his supervisor and report him.

You wouldn't believe how fast I had my passport stamped and was sent on my way.

At that point in time I wasn't aware that they really send people home and how serious my situation was but it worked for me and I feel that they only go as far as you let them.

Specially if you are the USC, why would youlet them run all over you? They are not going to deny you entry or anything!

Timeline

Back in Novemeber when I went to visit my fiance in England, I was asked loads of questions at the Manchester airport.

1) where does he live? Wigan, England

2) no, the exact address? I had it all written down, thankfully.

3) where does he work? I answered

4) does he live with his parents? I was like..um, no he 44 and old enough to live on his own (chuckle)

5) how did you meet? I answered online -- he gave me a look I will never forget and just say.. OH..

6) so you've never met? no

7) so he hasn't been to America to see you? Like I said..no, we have never met

8-etc.) where do you work.. did he pay for you to come here..are you planning on staying in the country.. how much money do you have with you.. do your parents know you are here..(I am not sure how old he thought I was, but I am 34)

etc... Geez!!!

Then he took my passport and told me to have a seat. He gave my passport to some other lady and just stood there glaring at me. 30 mins later, he called me over and gave me stern talk about the penalities of not leaving the country and stamped my passport. I didn't know until after I with my fiance, they had annouced on the intercom that whomever was picking me up needed to come to the information desk. At the information desk, they asked my fiance the exact questions they had asked me. He said he was so worried they wouldn't let me in because they were being dodgy. Whew!

My fiance has been to America, via Atlanta airport, twice with no incident. They asked him what piccalilli was when checking his baggage, but mostly joked with him about things.
