The OT topics looked bland and depressing. I wanted to spark a little life. Is that trolling?

I'm not complaining.

I complained about the Hitler pic, but that was hours ago and water under the bridge. I happen to think Samuel L. Jackson and Quentin Tarantino are about the coolest pairing in Hollywood in decades. Keep that up, and I'll even donate a box of Ritz crackers to the cause!

It just so happens that the nuts who are making death threats are ruining their own voices to repeal the HCR. Reverse psychology.

You violated the law by not buying car insurance and now others don't want to buy health insurance for themselves?

What was your point again? Who's the nut?

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

The Republican Party are the masters of scaremongering, they are partially responsible for all the uncivil rest in this country recently.

Death Panels, Socialism, Communism, Government takeover, Pulling the plug on granny, Armageddon, riling up the Tea Party on the balcony on Capitol Hill, End of America as we know it etc etc.....

Just a cheap joke. I actually watch C-Span for unfiltered information from time to time.

I used to like Pacifica Radio when they were married to NPR for antiestablishment viewpoints. After the divorce (and the Clinton election), NPR became more mainsteam, and KPFA gradually lost any credibility they had, going completely in the tank for the new administration.

Link-TV is about the best these days for unfiltered counter culture viewpoints, especially the international stuff.

I like NPR. I like Ira Glass, Terri Gross, Peter Sagal, Robert Siegal, Michelle Norris, the whole crew.

When I lived in the Bay area I used to like their morning show with Michael Krasny.

When I lived in Israel I used to listen to it all the time. I was captive to my horrible commute and would download NPR podcasts to listen to in the car. Now that I live in the US, I paradoxically find I listen to it much less. I blame my ecologically efficient green commuting pattern for drastically reducing my intake of ecological radio :P.

Let me get this straight. As the dim-witted Minority Whip sees it, Democrats are facing vandalism, assault, and harassment, and Democratic leaders want it to stop. But by urging responsible officials to denounce (and hopefully, discourage) misconduct, Dems are, Cantor believes, "dangerously fanning the flames."

Does Eric Cantor hear the words coming out of his mouth as he says them? Does he not realize how ridiculous he sounds? His message seemed to be: "If Dems just stayed quiet in the face of violence and intimidation, everything would be fine."

A few hours after accusing Democrats of "fanning the flames," Cantor was the featured guest on a conference call held by the "S.T.O.P. Obama Tyranny National Coalition."

By all appearances, Cantor isn't quite bright enough to appreciate the irony.

This is exactly the reason why I haven't voted for a Republican since Bob Dole vs. Bill Clinton. Some Republicans just "ain't too bright". Google "Bushisms" for more reasons.

Big Dog,

And as I said, Armageddon isn't materializing, plugs ain't pulled, no death panels on C-Span, doctors still work in their private practice, insurance companies flourish and the sun is coming up in the morning. Still in the East no less.

Let's say you buy a house with zero money down, you close on it, maybe move into it and live in it for 6 months to a year or two. But when you don't have the money you thought you might have and you miss payments, the bank forecloses and you lose your house. Well, you didn't really lose anything since little to no equity was put into it, especially if you did one of those interest only loans. [Keep in mind, this is only an analogy and I'm not specifically referring to you].

So no, I'm not surprised that "Armageddon" hasn't happened yet. But sooner or later (months, years?) there won't be any money to pay for this economy killing law and our debt will further spiral out of control. But don't take my word for it. Just listen to what Reid, Pelosi, Maddow and Olberman tell you, cuz they actually believe their "fuzzy math" will actually reduce the deficit! Hey, you might even see rainbows and unicorns tomorrow morning!

You want to discuss anything material or is hypothetical ####### all you've got left?

Fact of the matter is that our health care system was well on track to kill the economy as it is. It was on an unsustainable path. There's no dissent on that point. The fact of the matter also is that this is the first step towards bending the cost curve. Is it enough? No. Will this bill need to be worked on over the next few years> Absolutely. Is it a start? Yes it is.

I just think its nice for a change to see America spending money on it's people, to make it a better place to live and not on things that go on outside their own borders, like starting wars for example. On a side note the current health care system was already gulping up 1/6th of your economy and in a few more years increasing to 1/5th. Passing Health Care Legislation was important for the Economy and for the future of your country. What this whole debate has shown me is this the Republican Party are just not interested in improving the lives of the average American out there. They are too busy lining their own pockets in conjunction with big money corporations.
