I was told recently by calling NVC that if my mom get interview at GuangZhou China, the supplemental documents in Chinese don't have to be translated into English.

Does anyone here have experience with US embassy at Guangzhou? Is this true since I could not find any online guidance?

Appreciate your help.

This is wrong.

GUZ expects a white book on each document -

birth certificate

police clearance certificate

If you are having problems getting a white book translation in your town, go to a bigger town in yer province, you want 'notarial translation office'

here's what state.gov says about it

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html

(click the link, read all 7 pages )

the documents requirement is covered at http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html

Specifically for 'that phone call' - sorry - the NVC human was wrong.

Tell yer Mom this -

带着你的户口本和身份证到你所居住社区的居委会开一张出生证明,然后带着户口本,身份证和出生证明到公证处办理出生公证

Also - study all at

Sorry I missed your original post from earlier - if you had 'homed' the country, for your account, to China, I would have caught it on same day.

Good Luck !

Post here if you have any further questions !

Thank you, Darnell.

Now I do believe the documents need to be translated into English. I also know that the bigger city can issue the BC with English version attached. But since my mom already got the BC and other documents from the local notary office ( from my home town which can only give Chinese version), so I would like to find out if I can do translation for her. I searched this website and seems like I can find anybody to translate as long as he is fluent on both languages and then get notarized at bank or in front of some notary public. So I will try that way. But I am not sure if GuangZhou office will be ok with it. I am worried that if my mom go there for interview and then they tell her the translation is not good. They won't give the interview date until they think all required documents complete, right?

That home town resides in a province, and usually there is a notarial translation office in the 'big cities' in that province. If you can't find one or two 'of those', then translating it should be OK. It is common that the issuing office is NOT the notarial translation office.

re: her interview date - is set by GUZ IV (unless you used NVC EP) without regard to waiting on your mother and the gathering of required documents.
