I just filed my I130 and have a question for clarification.

I sent the I130 overnight to the Chicago address in the instructions. It is the USCIS office with a Chicago Lockbox address.

From that point on, does my I130 remain in Chicago for adjucation or do they send my documents somewhere else for adjucation and so forth?

Thanks ANM - since I am in Texas I assume that my I130 application will be forwarded to the Vermont Service Center.

I just submitted the I130 and have a few follow up questions now that my check has been cashed in Chicago

1) Apparently everyone gets an NOA1 after filing the I130. Will I receive my NOA1 from the USCIS in Chicago where my check was cashed - or will I receive it from the Vermont Service Center once they receive my packet from the USCIS in Chicago?

2) What exactly will the contents of this NOA1 be?

3) I retained a lawyer who helped put together the I130 petition and in the process I filled out and signed a G-28 with her.

Will the NOA1 be sent out to the lawyers address listed on the G-28 - or will it be sent out to the petitioner's address listed on the I-130?

Thanks for the help - I am gaining some understanding from this group and some experience now that I am in the process so I hope to share and help others as well.

This isn't necessarily true, I live in Kansas and my I-130 was processed at the California Service Center. I think they just divide up the processing work.

Ok thanks, but I am still confused.

Since I am retaining a lawyer and filed a G-28, will they be sending only the lawyer a copy of the NOA1 for the I130? Or will they send both myself and the lawyer a copy of the NOA1?
