Tampo is mostly pouting...being quiet and upset. You know most filipinas dont outwardly show they are upset...not like other women...at least in my experience.

Yeah, just give her a little space...in a few hours she's back to her beautiful loving self. But boy does it EVER suck when she is in Tampo mode???? You can try to talk to her....but it's wasted time. Just give her a lil space and she'll be fine in a bit...!

Ahh...the dreaded Tampo! Lol. Its not so bad, I guess. I like some others that posted have tried to break the habit or lessened its severity. If I don't pay attention to it, sometimes it makes it worse. So in severe cases I just hug and kiss my wife, even though I consider it a childish behaviour on her part. At first when I didn't respond to Tampo the way she thought I should, I had to explain to her I am not a Filipino so don't expect me to react like one. There have been times when I didn't respond and then later felt guilty for not giving in. I mostly felt guilty because later I put myself in her shoes and realize how much she has had to adjust to living in America and figured its sort of selfish of me not to respond to her Tampo in a way that makes her happy. The latest bout happened while visiting my parents for a few days. On day 3 my dad asked whats wrong with your wife? He asked did yall have a fight? I told him no, and said dad I wish I could explain it to you, but I don't fully understand it myself. I said "don't worry she will be back to her normal self by dinner time, and if not just act as if nothing is wrong." By dinner time we were laughing and cutting up again. My dad asked me later "so did yall get things worked out?" I said "Nope, there was nothing wrong between us, thats just her version of pouting for what ever reason you can think of?" He looked as confused as I do when Tampo rears its ugly head  You gotta love Filipina's.

"The Brazos still runs muddy like she's run all along, there ain't never been no cane to grind, the cottons all but gone." R.E.K

Just wondering how the men here deal with their wife when the dreaded tampo hits!!!!! I know it doesn't last for longer than 2 hours in my case but what do you do to try to fix it ?

Hahaha odd post.

What about understanding that you are likely going to be testy with each and giving each other some psychological space. Any time any one person in the relationship is irritate for whatever reason, isn't it best to not engage in anything that'll escalate a seemingly small issue or problem and wait until you're both in a positive frame to talk about things. There is little point in having a knock down quarrel or argument because of frustration and anger.

It's just conflict, not rocket science. Conflict resolution skills 101. And while not always easy to do, I believe in going hard on the issue and easy on the people as a general philosophy. We tend to go hard on the people and the issue can get obscured and things get personalized...

Or you can move out of the house for a while hahahaha ....

I realized that having 'tampo' will not work on my husband. lol. So, I just tell him directly what I feel and we just talk about it. Although it felt good before with my filipino ex-boyfriends being cuddled after I did 'tampo'. It just seemed not to work on my USC husband. I explained to him before what it meant but still it seems illogical to act like that when my husband is so open-minded with the way I feel towards him or when I feel bad.

Fill her purse up with Benjamins and tow her to Wild Horse Pass. Or, make a reservation with Talking Stick and be the first guests when the resort opens next month.

Don't take this the wrong way ...I know you are after a canadian but Tampo is a social thing and how they act when upset ...they will not yell or argue in this state ....so before giving answers like that you should look into what it is that u are responding to...

Is it your tampo, or is it her tampo?

I dont get Tampo because I know when we get to go to bed we make up !!!Tahoma I love how you always bust my balls !!!

Loveaboo's husband's guide to dealing with Tampo. :)

Caveat... this is only going to work with small infractions only. For the big ones, you are on your own. This isn't going to help.

When she goes into Tampo mode, follow this simple 4 step process.

Step One - Leave her alone! - Give her some time to cool down. Use this quiet time to make yourself useful by doing some housework or other things that will soften her disposition towards you. In the meantime, you can contemplate whatever "infraction" you've committed. (Or alternatively try to figure out what it was you did anyways. :P )

Step Two - Begin gentle cajoling - Get her to talk to you, and figure out exactly what you did that made her tampo. Usually this will take multiple attempts. Be persistent to the point of being (almost) irritating.

Step Three - Once you've wrung it out of her what you have done, sincerely apologize, re-affirm your love for her, tell her all the things that she wants to hear, etc. We are men, not saints after all. :)

Step Four - Buy something small but nice that she would like - This will depend on how well you know your wife and the kinds of things she likes. Flowers, chocolate, something special to eat, a small gift to let her know you care. Keep her guessing.

Presto! If you haven't dug yourself into too deep a hole, this should get you out of the dog-house nicely.

By the way, dealing with Tampo is SO much better then what I had to deal with from my ex. I was so tired of all the screaming and fighting. Tampo is positively refreshing in comparison.
