Kiev questions

So.... According to NVC they sent our case over on Tuesday and since I trust DHL tracking info, there was only 1 package to Kiev on Tuesday.

Which means ours arrived in Kiev today.

So, since Kiev has no packets to mail and there's no reason for us to wait around, what do I do next? Phone call center and ask them if they have the case yet?

I remember I read somewhere that Kiev updates theirs on Fridays only.

So, should I just call tomorrow and every Friday or try every day?

The thing is, I want to go (and will go) to the interview, but I am sorta constrained by when I can go (has to be before May). So that's why I want this to happen as soon as possible.

In any case, I would appreciate any insight

It took about 8 days after Kiev received our file (best guess anyway) for us to be able to schedule interview. The fee is good for more than 1 call if you are quick. It was actualy about a month later she got packet in mail. :star:

Thanks!

Yeah..... I'm not expecting any packets to arrive at all. I'll be chipping away at those 8 minutes every day then, calling in the morning to see if anything has changed.

That's what I'm hoping for. Since it got there today, maybe they'll perform a miracle and enter into the system tomorrow.

I have a project at work (24/7 on demand testing) that starts on 28th of April and even though my management told me to go take care of my family first, I'd like to be there for at least half of it, so I can get paid overtime and save more monies for AOS :D

wait for next 2-3 weeks, then call to the call center and schedule the interview date. Right now just wait and getting ready documents for interview, be sure that all is done in right way.

Good luck!

Everything but medical is ready. I don't think it'll take 2-3 weeks. Just going by recent experiences of people with Kiev it didn't take 2-3 weeks, so I'm just hoping it's the case as well.

Basically correct. Kiev updates the call center (which is in Warsaw Poland) on Friday after the consulate closes, which means you can't make an appointment until Monday morning Kiev time. It also means that if you call on Monday and they do not have the case, there is no need to call until the next Monday...unless that procedure has changed but it was that way for a couple of years. There are two poeple that man the call center for Kiev, the first time you call, just ask them if they still update only on Friday.

It takes, usually 2-3 weeks to get the case in the system. The call center can do nothing for an appointment until it is in the system. Last summer Kiev was running 3-5 days on appointments, I do not know what it is now. When it is slow like that, they were only making appointments 2-3 weeks in advance. I had to wait until early June to make an appointment for our son on June 25th.

Thanks!

Don't count on the packet 3, Alla never did receive hers and you don't need it, you can download the forms at this site.

Not quite what I heard today on the phone. First of, I'm not sure the call center is in Warsaw anymore, because the local number for it is a Kiev number and everyone who's there is Russian/Ukranian. I've already gone through 4 different operators too.

All of them told me that they have seen updates on all days of the week, Monday through Thursday. So I'll be calling each day. I can't just let couple of weeks go by without checking.

I am in a similar situation. She has not received a packet and the case was forwarded to Kiev on JAN 30. She is printing the packet out and filling it out, taking care of the loose ends, then trying to get an interview date in early June when I will be visiting again.

OK.......wait......what?

Have you phoned a call-center? There's just no way your case is not in the system yet.

Also, with Ukraine, packets pretty much never come. There's no need for them.

If you got in contact with NVC and have the KEV number they assigned then you can go to the embassy website and check on status (then they email you back) that was the way I found out that they had the packet from NVC.

AOS:

Green Card APPROVAL for wife and stepson 02/10/2011

Revd'd Green Cards for wife and stepson today 02/19/2011

My timeline gives all the information

Did that yesterday.

I don't expect to see an email from them for another week though.

Got an e-mail from Kiev, saying our documents were received (read - we finally went down to our mailroom and got them) on March 29th and the information packet was mailed.

Phoned a call-center.... no dice.... the only good thing about all this - I managed to call (for a second time) without a PIN code :P
