Freedom is right everyone pays for.

Privilege and rights are two different things.

so who did you pay for your freedom today?

The argument I've given you is why this bill passed muster of legal counsel. This is how it will be presented in court when those AG's sue.

The spin you heard up to now is what you needed to hear to get it passed.

Is the tax per person, or per household? Also, if this is an IRS thingy, surely all those who don't want to buy health care can tick the box where it asks them if they have health insurance and hope they don't get audited?

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

IDK.

The IRS. Did you think the military prints its own money or something?

Fail again Chester

Education is not a right. I can become educated by volunteers, home school, and many other free avenues.

Or you can choose not to be educated at all. HAd you chosen to educate yourself, you would have known that education is, in fact, a universal human right since 1948. As for the cost, any way you choose to receive your edcuation, you still pay the government for the delivery of this universal human right.

Well, there's no reason why you should. Interesting way of looking at it but tbh, I'm still annoyed that they didn't piss off the right for something good, instead of this piss poor pathetic compromise package

Education is a universal human right since 1948.

I'm not sure what you are referring to, but the fact that you are referring to a year contradicts the definition of right. Either it has always been a universal human right, or it isn't. It could be recognized since 1948, but either it is or it isn't. It didn't become.

Please explain. I dont know if I want to see the answer. I assume you are going to say taxes. IE property taxes.

Its a privelage. No argument unless you want to start pulling things out of the air like...ummmm the goverment granted this right. How thoughtful of them.

What do you mean by universal?? It sure doesnt apply to the country in your profile....Ethiopia?

Ethiopia signed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, so yes, it does apply.

Article 26.

(1) Everyone has the right to education. Education shall be free, at least in the elementary and fundamental stages. Elementary education shall be compulsory. Technical and professional education shall be made generally available and higher education shall be equally accessible to all on the basis of merit.

(2) Education shall be directed to the full development of the human personality and to the strengthening of respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms. It shall promote understanding, tolerance and friendship among all nations, racial or religious groups, and shall further the activities of the United Nations for the maintenance of peace.

(3) Parents have a prior right to choose the kind of education that shall be given to their children.

UN 1948

As I said, education is a universal right. Make use of it.

As for the time at which this right was recognized as such, there's a timestamp on every right. While any right may always have existed, no right does anyone any good if it isn't recognized.

Education is not a privilege even if you parents thought of it that way and decided not to bestow that privilege on you. It is a right and yes, it does apply in my wife's country of origin.

You should make use of your right to education some day.

Exactly. A lot of good that did for some around here.
