No.

You have the right to afford yourself the ability to purchase health care, but you have no right to health care, just as you have no right to a 60" HDTV.

Any healthcare I receive is payed for in one way or another so it cant be considered a right.

I was addressing the point of being forced to participate in the mandate. You're not. There is no mandate to buy insurance. There is only a mandate to pay taxes to the IRS. You are being given the opportunity to exempt yourself from the tax by buying insurance. If you make less than 400% of poverty, the Federal government will even share your premium cost with you. The only "coercion" by government here is the requirement to the pay the IRS. But that is a form of coercion that has long been constitutionally settled. They have the right to do it, whether we like it or not.

Edit: strikethrough

It's the truth. There is no coercion in this bill unless you refuse to pay the IRS. And that the Federal government has the right to levy taxes is well settled law.

I wish they were honest and just called it a universal healthcare tax.

But that would mean that Obama lied when he promised he would not raise taxes

on those making less than $200k. Shock, horror.

The argument I've given you is why this bill passed muster of legal counsel. This is how it will be presented in court when those AG's sue.

The spin you heard up to now is what you needed to hear to get it passed.

Name a right Im forced to pay for?

Education.

Healthcare and education are government programs...not rights!

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995
