Chine airlines and first time immigrant discount

Well, I had a friend of my wife's check prices for a flight. I figured she would talk to her travel agent friend, but she called china airlines directly. She said the flight to anchorage was $782 first time immigrant and $974 if not....all inclusive of the 1620 Php tax. On their site it is like $891 without the 1620 Php tax. So, china airlines does offer first time immigrant discount..not a whole lot, but it is about $100 cheaper than I can get it online. Thought I would share this.

is china airlines that bad? I dont want to have my wife change planes 2 or 3 times and have a 3 and 12 hour layover on her way to alaska. This is the only flight that is direct to anchorage (with one stop)

I tried flying with China Airlines once when my Granny passed

away since it was the cheapest and has an available seat. I am

not impressed at all. Food (yikes) is so greasy, no room for

your leg, attendants were helpful than PAL crew, stinky lavatory.

But if that is more convenient for your wife (travel hours, fare

amount, lay over time) then go for it. Good Luck!

If you're flying an airline out of China then DragonAir is really good. Flew them from HK to Beijing and back earlier this year and had a really good flight. Don't know anything about China air but they can't be any worse than any of the US airlines I've flown (not impressed).

Whenever I come to Alaska and whenever my husband comes to visit me he uses China airline , so it shouldn't be bad..

But I was in multiple visa tourist visa before, so I should be entitled for this first time immigrant promo!

The stewardesses in China Airlines are nicer than Northwest Airlines...They are so patient with you....

It will be better and less stressful for Mhay to fly using China Airlines...Almost all Filipinos are flying China Airline on there way to Anchorage .Only one stop in Taipei with 2 hours waiting time which is not bad, Then she flies straight to where you are ,

Thanks...that is what i was thinking...i was looking at her flying through hawaii, but i guess there is no direct flight in the summer from hawaii to anchorage...i guess it is only a winter thing. I know people say how bad delta and northwest are....(same thing now) but I have never had a problem with them...that's just me. I am used to flying mil-air cargo planes...so any commercial flight is better than that. At least the international flights have a bunch of movies...I found out on my last trip that the plane i was on had power for my laptop in the coach cabin. all the seats in the area I was had it.

I've flown China Air a few times now Scott...she won't be disappointed. The food was really good, the staff is stellar, what airplane isn't crowded, I was never charged for a beer after dinner, she'll be served lunch between MNL and TPE, she can text message you from remote control in her seat and did I mention the stewardess?:thumbs:

Seriously, I forgot to call and change my departure date with all the airlines on my trip home last fall. I extended my stay but somehow forgot to call before my departure date. Continental made me buy a whole new ticket for my domestic flights but China Air said...no problem, when would you like to fly? No fees, no penalty.

thanks for the replies... I wish I would have tried to fly them before...but I was just looking for the cheapest flight for me to go there and back...most of those dont include china airlines in the searches or they charge more for them...but I know now to go to their site.

Hey Scott, I'm originally from Anchorage. You're taking a filipina from the tropical belt to North Pole? She'll be wearing parkas in the summer. ... Actually summers are warmer up there than Anchorage. These folks down here in San Diego wear big coats when it get's down in the 50s....

Sorry to take it off topic...I flew China Air quite a few times. Very big on service.

Hi Scott,

I've flown China Air ANC-MNL and back, twice during the past 6 months. Each time it's been fine. Clean planes, decent food, more legroom than either Cathay or most US carriers. I do prefer Philippine Airlines (better food, slightly more legroom), but spending hours less on the plane (vs flying down through the west coast) make this by far the best choice, in my own humble opinion.
