He always seem like a know-it-all and acted very arrogant on NBC's Today show when he co-hosted.

Was he asked about his comments about the Olympics being too white?

i do not think so..i think he did a commentary on the winter olympics...

bryant is an idiot. its not as if black people are being KEPT out of the winter games by some grand conspiracy by THE MAN. :devil:

there are black athletes that have competed in national, international and professional winter sports. debi thomas, tai babilonia, surya bonaly, shani davis, grant fuhr, and anson carter, to name a few.

but you have to be realistic, its really freakin' cold in the winter, and there are quite a few of us that prefer to stay indoors where its warm and dry. :whistle: and quite a few of us live in urban areas, not near the mountains where skiing & snowboarding are favorite weekend pasttimes.

and as for black people outside of america, its extremely hard to get an olympic team for a sport that is non-existent or unpopular in your home country. even if i trained up here in PA for um, speed skating, i could not compete under my country's banner because there is no speed skating federation at home. nor would i have much luck trying to form one, or to get sponsors to send me to compete. the national olympic committee is focused on sports like track & field, swimming and tennis, where they might stand a chance of winning a medal.

and no one should take anything gumbel says too seriously. i mean really... :wacko:

Fourteen years ago the first Jamaican Bobsleigh team made history in the Calgary Olympics Winter Games. They warmed the hearts of many worldwide in their first attempt at Olympic glory and was even immortalized in the popular Walt Disney movie "Cool Runnings". Since then the team has been a mainstay in the Winter Olympics and now have their eyes focused on bringing back a medal to Jamaica.

In the first games (1988) the team was seen as a novelty as they had many technically difficulties, injuries and crashes. In the second games (1992) the team had drastically improved. They had practiced hard for 4 years and were confident and focused. The 4-man team came in 14th ahead of the US, French, Russian and Italians teams. This was just the beginning. In the 2-man event the Jamaican team shocked the world by beating the Swedish national champions and coming in 10th place.

The team has continued to improve and took in 2000, and took gold at the World Push Championships in Monte Carlo in three events and posting the fasted start time at the World Cup.

The determination and hard work of the Jamaican team has paid off as they sent a teams to 2002 Winter Olympic games in Salt Lake City, Utah. Theteam placed 28th in the 2 man bobsled race.

The Jamaican team: Mark Hill, Winston Watt, Lascelles Brown, Garnett Jones, Stewart Maxwell, Clive McDonald and women, Porscha Morgan, Winsome Cole, Taniesha LcLean and Dukelyn Barrett,

The team coach: Trond Knaplund from Norway.
