It's usually $131 if you pay yourself and then $400 if you use an attorney or agency. They pay the $131 for you and then pocket the rest.

That's how it used to work, anyway. Not sure about the new system. I'm sure a quick call or email to the embassy can clear this up. Anyway, why are you worried, you don't have to pay it, your beneficiary does.

According to the Embassy website it is still $131.

According to the Embassy website it is still $131.

If you can post here, then you can email the Embassy. That's what I would do since they may not be so swift to update the website and of course the onus is always on you.

Go ahead, email the Embassy. Be Polite. Include your case number. Say Thank you. Don't be scared.

That's the government for you. They more than double the price for an identical service but they don't even bother to re-print the forms.

Or you could look at it as good fiscal responsibility, making hand-changes on the old forms until they run out of them. :)

I don't even see it as good fiscal responsibility. The cost of paper and ink pales in comparison to the cost of labor.

Eh. Some minimum wage local is stuffing those forms into envelopes. You're adding another 5 seconds to however long this process takes per envelope for them to cross out one thing and write another. Pretty sure the cost is negligible.
