5 months.

Based on your service center it might be sooner, but be prepared to wait the full 5 months and be pleasantly surprised if you get it earlier

Слава Україні!

All depends on the Service Center, Case Load, etc...

We received our NOA2 in 3 months (VSC - mailed I129F 6/15/09, received NOA2 9/21/09).

If your I129F petitoin is approved, when you receive the NOA2 you are required to do NOTHING.

The USCIS will forward it to the NVC where it will be reviewed and a new case number assigned. Then it will be off to the consulate. The NVC will send you a letter with the case number and that it has been sent.

Then your fiancee will receive packet and instruction on how to proceed.

While all this is going on, read read read and start reviewing what will happen next. It's never to early to start getting ready for what is upcoming.

If you create a timeline on here, it will give you an approximate date on when you should receive it. It's pretty accurate but not definite.

Try it! And good luck on your journey!

Just so you know, last spring processing on family based visas basically stopped for 6 weeks in April coinciding with the H1B filing deadline (or start date - basically the same thing as they fill up so fast).

As someone said earlier, if you plan for the worst, all of your surprises will be pleasant. If you get your mind set on a super fast approval, then you're more likely to be disappointed.

Anyway, as for your other question about what happens next, I would encourage you to check out the K-1 flow chart.

http://www.visajourney.com/content/k1flow

Be sure you get all the way through the process in your mind, and try to make sure you do what you can during your visa process to make the remaining processes easier.

Ex:

-If your fiance(e) gets all of the vaccinations before the overseas medical (not always possible - I know, but worth a little hassle), this will make the vaccination supplement for AOS easier.

-Several financial proofs are required for the visa affidavit of support and ALSO for the I-864 for AOS. If you make extra copies, then it's less hassle to gather it later.....etc.

There is no way to tell when you will receive your NOA-2...every case is different. The time period for me was 71 days from NOA-1 to NOA-2. Others are 90-100 days...others, a lot longer.

Basically, the NOA-2 asks NOTHING of you. It is simply a notification that your file has been sent to the NVC for processing. Usually, your file is at the NVC for a period of several weeks until it is forwarded to the Embassy where your fiance'/wife will have the interview. Then, that Embassy will send out "Packet 3" which are instructions to your fiance'/wife on how to proceed with everything in their country.

Best Wishes,

Franc
