Did they tell you that you were under administrative processing? There are two different types. There is the mandatory administrative processing, which is done in Washington DC. This can be checked with DOS.

Then, there is the internal administrative processing...which is when the embassy is still working on your case.

What did the embassy tell you? Did they tell you that you were approved? or..Did they tell you that you had mandatory administrative processing?

Waiting.....Waiting....waiting....waiting....and more waiting..........

Each Embassy uses a little different termonology but based on what I have been told from the Ukraine Embassy they have a Administrative review which is a short process if something else needs to be done on your case it becomes Administrative Processing and from my understanding from DOS and USCIS AP is a term meaning your case is still being worked on this doesnt just include name checks or security clearance it is a word they use instead of revealing exactly what is going on with your case. In your case I would think that internal process is like adminstrative review. When my case was first at the embassy after my husbands interview I called and a young man at the embassy told me your case is on the CO's desk for administrative rewiew I asked him what does that mean he said the CO is reviewing it to see if it needs AP. So may your case is having internal processing to see if it needs AP anyway good luck

AP is a term used here on VJ, but the embassy and DOS will call it Administrative Processing. I find that administrative processing and administrative review is used interchangable.

After your first interview, I am sure that you were put into AP at the embassy level, they did what ever checks they were going to do and then called you for another interview. They may still be checking into whatever your discussion was from the second interview.

To know if you are in mandatory name checks...call the dos at 202-663-1225. press number 1 and then number 0. When the operator answers the phone tell them that you want to get the status on your case. When they tell you that you are under administrative review/processing, ask them if it is at the embassy level or if it is name checks in Washington, DC. They can tell you this.

If you are in DC, this is good news because you are approved pending name clearance.

I hope that you get good news soon!

email the embassy and specifically ask them if your administrative processing is internal or name checks in washinton. Have your wife call the DOS and specifically ask the same thing. I have got this information from both places, but you need to be specific.

if you don't get your answer the first time, call or email again.

Did they keep your passport after the first or the second interview?

I know they kept your passport, but I was wondering if they kept it after the first interview or did they keep it after the 2nd interview? At which interview did they keep the passport?
