Upon reading the forums it seems that many talks of the packet/package 3 being something they receive in the mail. This is the point where me and my fiance are. He did receive a letter in the mail from his Consulate which told him to go to a website that had Instructions for Amsterdam Immigrant Visa Applicants, and a link to a check list.

My question is, is packet 3 some large paperwork they send you in the mail? Or is packet 3 referred to the packet that he will gather the information for to send in.

Thank you!

It USED to be a physical packet and for some people (without email) still is. They prefer to do it electronically though.

"packet 1" is NOA1 which is the receipt

"Packet 2" is NOA2 which is the petition approval

"Packet 3" is Packet 3 sent via hardcopy or email and gives you forms (or links to form) to complete to either bring or send into the consulate for your visa application.

"Packet 4" is Packet 4 which includes the interview date/info among other things depending on your consulate.

Each was/is referred to as a packet as it is/was sent by mail.

For us (Vietnam), packet 3 was Two parts.

Part 1 was instructions for completing and sending the DS-2001 and DS-230 Part 1 to the consulate. After the consulate receives them they then schedule and interview date.

Part 2 was a list of all the forms and requirements for things that would be required at the interview. This information all came again in packet 4 which also contained the interview appointment letter.

Not all consultes operate the same as far as the packets, notifications and the required information may vary slightly also.

Best to verify with others who have been through your consulate on exactly what to expect.
