Where is says: "This form is submitted in connection with:"

Do I check "Other" and specify: "I-130 Petition for Alien Relative"

Or do I just check "Status as Permanent Resident", since, that is, in fact, the ultimate goal...

I checked the example forms, but there isn't a G-325-A example given for what you send in with the I-130.

Thanks again. I don't know what I would do without this site.

You are not adjusting status, so your first reply "other" is appropriate.

Both the US Citizen petitioner and the foreign alien spouse need to fill out one set of G-325A.

The US Citizen petitioner can check 'other' and write "I-130 Petition for Alien Relative." The foreign alien spouse's G-325A should write "Status as a Permanent Resident."

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

Em,

Status as a Permanent Resident may be the ultimate goal but it's not the immediate goal, which is to qualify for an immigrant visa. I would check 'Other' but I suspect that either answer might be acceptable.

simple_male,

I'm curious to learn your logic for giving different explanations for why the G-325As are being submitted when both G-325As are going with the same petition.

Answering for simple_male here `cause I think I see his logic -- Since two G-325A Biographic Info forms are being submitted (one for the petitioner and one for the beneficiary), it would sort of make sense that each are being submitted for different things (albeit, they are also submitted in connenction with the same petition form). In other words, the petitioner is submitting theirs in connnection with an I-130 petition for their Alien Relative, and the beneificiary is submitting theirs (ultimately), in regards to their status as a permananet resident.

But, since the petitioner is the one submitting both theirs and the beneficiaries forms, I see it the other way, too, meaning both forms are being submitted in connection with an I-130 Petition for an Alien Relative, so perhaps, to avoid confusion, that is what both G-325As should say...

Man - they don't make this easy, do they. They leave it open to way too many interpretations.

I already explaiend my logic. The petitioner will not adjusting his status as permament resident, but the beneficiary will. This is what I used for our G-325As and they went through fine. I agree that the beneficiary can also click "other" and write I-130 petition. Overall, I don't think, USCIS is picky about this.

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

simple_male,

The beneficiary of the petition will not be adjusting status unless at some later point in time they apply to adjust status. Up until fairly recently none of them did (speaking of spouses and step-children), I've no idea what the percentage might be since the K3 visa was created.

We agree that it makes little difference (especially since G-325A is an obsolescent form that gets little attention). An interesting philosophical point, though.

Hi Em,

You should check "other" abd write" I-130 Petition for Alien Relative"....since thats the petition the G-325A is being submitted in connection with.
