well at least if you're sitting there picking at your toes they'll think you're concerned about personal hygiene ;)

My first few interviews I just said I was waiting on immigration to process my EAD. Honestly, I don't think they need to know anything more except your work history.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

Sept 23 2006 - EAD card arrived

Sept 29 2006 - GC arrived!!!

Jul 9 2008 - Filed @ VSC

Feb 25 2009 - Transferred to CSC

June 20 2009 - Card production ordered

NATURALIZATION

Aug 24 2009 - Mailed N-400 priority mail

Aug 26 2009 - rec'd at TX Lockbox

Aug 27 2009 - NOA1 (rec'd 8/31)

Aug 28 2009 - check cashed

Sept 4 2009 - biometrics notice [rec'd Sept 9]

Sept 25 2009 - Biometrics

Oct 17 2009 - Email about file transfer for interview

Oct 21 2009 - Interview Letter Rec'd

Dec 8 2009 - Interview - PASSED!!!!!!

Dec 19 2009 - Oath Letter rec'd

Jan 14 2010 - OATH CEREMONY!!!!

Jan 15 2010 - Passport app.

Jan 21 2010 - Nat. cert. returned

Jan 22 2010 - Passport rec'd

I wouldn't worry about justifying what you have or haven't been doing since arriving in the US. I had a full work history up until the point I arrived in the US and the gap between my last job in the UK and any interviews for new jobs once in the US could be explained in just 5 letters... USCIS !! If you cannot legally work in the US until being granted an EAD then there is ALWAYS going to be a break in employment history. You have NOA's to show you haven't been "lollygagging around" to coin a US phrase so I wouldn't worry about it.

Our Full Timeline From K-1 Application through to Receiving my Green Card

Timeline Summary

11/30/2007 - I-751 Mailed to Nebraska

12/28/2007 - NOA Received (application has been forwarded to California)

01/09/2008 - Biometrics taken in St. Louis

03/27/2008 - I-751 Approved, 10 Yr Greencard in the mail !!

12/20/2016 - N-400 mailed to Phoenix lockbox

01/17/2017 - NOA Received

01/25/2017 - Attended biometrics in St. Louis

09/29/2017 - Received I-797C notice dated 09/27/17.  Interview Scheduled for November 6th @ 8am

11/06/2017 - N400 interview in St. Louis.  Approved !!:jest:

02/05/2018 - Notice of Oath Ceremony date received.  March 1st, 2018 @ 8.30am
