Typically only 6 months...but it should say on the clearance...some are a year...some only a couple of months. Where are you getting your police clearance from? Germany? It is best to get your police clearance after your NOA2 though.

Removal of conditions Journey

16 March 2012 Sent I-751 package from Aviano AB, Italy.

29 March 2012 Received everything back...wrong fee. thought we didn't have to pay biometrics since we were sending fingerprint cards and passport photos.

30 March 2012 Sent everything out again from Aviano AB, Italy.

10 April 2012 Check cashed

17 April 2012 Received NOA1 dated 6 April.

06 Dec 2012 Received 10 yr green card. Letter said it was approved 28 November 2012.

How long is a police certificate good for?

Can I get it now to be prepared when it is needed or is there something like an "expiration date"?

as far as I know it's valid for 6 months

9/21/2009 - Sent I-129F package to CSC

9/25/2009 - NOA 1

9/29/2009 - Touched

12/21/2009 - Touched

12/22/2009 - NOA 2 Approved!! :)

12/31/2009 - NVC received our case

01/07/2010 - Consulate mailed package 3 (never received)

01/19/2010 - Consulate mailed package 3 again

01/23/2010 - Package 3 received

01/29/2010 - Package 3 arrived at consulate

02/03/2010 - Package 4 received

Usually for 6 months - this may vary.

My Advice is usually based on "Worst Case Scenario" and what is written in the rules/laws/instructions. That is the way I roll... -Protect your Status - file before your I-94 expires.

Regardless of any expiration date affixed to the actual certificate, the US Consulate will accept them for as long as they will. Usually they are acceptable if obtained within a year of submission but it is best practice to obtain them as close to the interview date as practical.
