Actually that is quite American. Defending liberty above all else is and always should be the American way.

I would suggest you research and understand truly the entire situation regarding the Boston Tea Party. You might learn something and see how much of it fits to this situation today.

Apparently people who fly planes into IRS buildings grasp it quite well.

You seem to enjoy insinuating that you will defy the mandate and withstand some fictitious wrath of the government. First of all, there is no such thing. The IRS won't send out agents to collect from you, they'll just withold the money from your tax returns, place a garnishment on your wages, or freeze your assets. Eiether way, you standing in front of your door with a shotgun will still make you look quite silly. But I suppose that is quite analagous with the whole teabagger movement, dated and delusional.

The boston tea party, and some nutjob from texas flying his plane into an IRS building have no bearing upon the topic at hand. When you keep bringing them up, you portray yourself more and more as a neophyte.

The Boston Tea Party happened before the formation of our government. Our system of government was formed by the Founders of this country and was designed to allow for grievances to be solved through civil means, not by violence. If you think a particular piece of legislation is unconstitutional, then fight it out in the courts. However, once SCOTUS makes a decision, that's final, unless you can get the court to hear your arguments again. This is the system we have, yet you keep implying that when our system doesn't go in your favor, taking up arms is within your right and that's absurd. You'd be tried for treason. But if that's how you think you'll make change in this country, go for it. I'll take the U.S. military over whatever arsenal you've been stockpiling in your basement.

Paul, be honest here - what do you think is the likelihood that any of these lawsuits will hold up in court?

Pretty good, actually.

These aren't just liberal law professors trying to twist the Constitution...

Yes, they are.

I had a chat with a constitutional lawyer right here in NY last night and

he's convinced it's unconstitutional and will eventually get overturned.

Just one man's opinion, of course.

So let's use the same logic to fix the Educational System in America.

All private schools are now required to fill in the gaps in the public school system so that everyone has a level playing field.

Harvard will have to either assist all surround colleges (including community colleges) to prove the same level of education or they need to lower their standards to meet the standards they can raise the other schools to.

Oh, by the way tuition at the cheap schools can be increased and Harvard can't decrease their tuition.

Interstate Commerce Rules! Thanks rich folks for paying to help my children get the same level of education as yours will!

You really sholdn't take what Mark Levin says as the unquestionable truth. I think a vast majority of people here understand liberty, and freedom, most in fact I would wager have a far superior grasp of the concept than you do.

If they rule the health care bill constitutional by referencing the Commerce Clause, I hope that'll shut you up. :jest:

Steven, I know you like repeating falsehoods, but for the N-billionth time:

The Constitution gives the government no authority to regulate the commerce within

each state, only oversight of the trade between states. Health insurance is not

traded between states (at least not yet!)

I highly doubt that.

Not many have the understanding of history that I do across the board (western and eastern for that matter). It's my favorite subject :)

Do you not grasp the concept of how taxes are collected in this digital age? Seriously, you can stop with the outdated catch phrases.

Apparently you dont. But I have a feeling you are a young niave individual. So your forgiven. Your brain will firm up in a few years

I dont guess you have seen an audit first hand. wheather you are an individual or small business they will actually come in and set up shop. The couple I witnessed took about a week. They went thru every financial document in the office. Then made a decision if enough was paid.

Get out in the real world!!! and learn.

How naive you are. I have worked in the finance industry, and fully understand how audits work. An auditing team will come to the business to evaluate the original documents and to chronicle procedures and measures. They do not however go to the CEO at the conclusion of the audit with a hand out saying "you owe us $1,000,000; pay up now". You receive their findings in the mail with a list of payment options. If you do not oblige them with a response, they will take the aforementioned steps.

You really should read things better and comment on topics that you are familiar with. Clearly taxes and audits are not one of those subjects.

So an unabashed admiration uniquely qualifies you as the expert on the subject?

I would call myself an expert in many aspects. ;)

I'm basing it on what many prominent constitutional scholars are saying.

I highly doubt that.

You've studied constitutional law?

You've studied constitutional law?

extensively.

There's probably not a major case you could quote me that I don't know something about.

Some decisions are proper by the courts, others maybe not so much.

Constitutional law is an intriguing subject to say the least.
