Case has just been sitting at NVC since 7/14

I called NVC today and spoke to a lady who told me they rec'd my case on 7/31. I said, "that's strange, I got a letter stating you rec'd it on 7/14, and it would be out to the embassy in a week" she said, oh yes, well we did receive it on the 14th, but someone, just started working on it on the 31st. So, basically it has just been sitting there for 2 weeks....gosh!!!!! But anyways, it is being worked on now, and hopefully will be sent out in a few days!!!!!

My petition has been there from the 10th of July and I also got the same "within a week" letter. They just keep saying its in AP and there is no time time frame just the same canned yes or no answer, Yes we got it and yes we still got it. Nothing more. I can get the same answer from opening my mailbox.

I talked to someone on the phone and she said it was received on july 24th and forwarded on the 26. And then on the 28th, I got a letter, dated July 27 that said my case had just been received and that it would be forwarded in a week.

Who the ####### am I suppose to believe? I could call the embassy and ask if they've received it, but I don't feel like paying $8.

I just kind of ignored the letter. The date on it seemed incorrect to me. Since I received it on the 28th, there was no way it was written on 27th. I don't live near NH at all, and I doubt they overnited such a stupid letter.

My case has been at NVC since the 19th of July, and I have never received any letters from them even saying that they received it. I call them every day hoping they would just send it on its way. Some people get these cases done in a few days, and for others it takes much much longer, hopefully not too long.

I just wanted to comment here that for whatever reason the dates on the letters are indeed strange in that they are either dated the same day your receive them or the day after regardless of where they are coming from. I have had the same experience for my mom's case where her approval was dated the day before I actually received it.

So I would say that since you have the approval in your hand it is actually worth something and not a fluke...unless someone knows of them sending out incorrect/wrong approvals and then later recalling them?

When you guys say "case received" do you mean received at the NVC from the USCIS? Or do you mean after all the I-864 and agent of choice and fees and stuff are done? Because I thought they didn't forward to the consulate until all that stuff was done?

"When an applicant's priority date is close to becoming current , NVC will send an Affidavit of Support (I-864 form) processing fee bill to the petitioner and an Agent of Choice and Address (DS-3032) form to the applicant. Once the I-864 processing fee is paid, NVC will send the I-864 forms and instructions to the petitioner. Once NVC receives the form DS-3032 from the applicant, NVC will mail the Immigrant Visa (IV) fee bill to the agent of choice. Once the IV fee bill is paid, NVC will send the Instruction Packet of forms and information to the agent. "

I figured my case (which was received on July 20th) wouldn't go to the consulate until all the above stuff was done, and we haven't received anything from the NVC. I got the case number from my congressman's office. We've never received the Affidavit of Support processing fee bill or Agent of Choice form or Immigration Visa fee bill.

I'm so confused!

Also, when I check my case status via the NVC phone system, it says that it will take 8 weeks for these forms to go out, so how could an application/case be at the consulate in a week? I don't get it!
