We all have different views/opinions of what marriage should be and should not be. As you can see, Im not the babying, coddling type.. If you want to be treated like a man, you just need to act as such. I love teaching, helping, showing, but somethings you have to stand up and do it for yourself. I believe in independence when necessary.

Only you yourself can gauge what type of marriage/relationship you want through communication. That's the key! heart.gif

I'm sure you noticed what I put in bold. Don't be offended by what I'm going to say, if you don't like it, fine but here goes: young people besa? If I'm not mistaken, aren't you pretty young yourself? 2nd, age is nothing but a number mami, I'm 23, my honey is 22 and not to diss my siser but her and her hubby are 30 something with 3 kids and still very immature. So in other words, don't refer to young ppl like that because you can be old or young and have no respect as well as be old or young and do have respect.

Also, my honey always say that ppl tend to think that when they're married that they should change, NO, when you're married you should remain the same (with certain things atleast). You should've had a problem with his friend BEFORE you guys got married, not after marriage. Marriage isn't going to make a person just wake up and say "oh I'm married now" No mami, their experiences make them wake up. I hope you understand where I'm coming from, don't have to agree. Ask yourself, "the day afetr I got married, did I suddenly change all my bad habits/things that my husband didn't like?"

Lastly, do you expect him to tell you all his life who he talks to?

As I said before, no offfense intended.

I do see your point but to clarify- he doesnt consider a friend nor were they talking throughout our relationship- so I do believe I had a reason to be mad.

Hi Mami...as you can tell I was dealing with some foolishness the other night. It is a transition for real...folks told me how marriage can be at times but I was like we got this...the main thing I'm trying to do is take things day by day and not sweating so much of the small stuff. I try not to assume the worst but sometimes it can't be helped. I'm finding myself saying a little extra prayer every day to give me more patience, understanding, and to please not gut a mofo

Communication is definitely a major thing...so as long as those lines are open...you'll be fine! I pray we all go be fine!!

Morning Tee! We're about to had out and meet this home inspector. Enjoy your day!

Its weird cuz they just started talking in december, of which I talked to her and asked her not to call after a certain time (she had called at 1 am) So all along I thought we had an understanding cuz she apologized and everything. So I wasnt expecting this again 3 months later along with an attitude. But now they dont talk- kinda dont care cuz she was VERY rude and disrespectful to me when we were texting each other.

Thanks for the luv mija... same to you cuz we need as much support as possible.

Edited: They starting communicating in December, like a few weeks before we got married and she and I talked about boundaries and respect in terms of call-times, of which she was cool with (or so I thought). I technically cant say I was cool with her because I only knew of her and gave it a chance cuz she said she'd respect our relationship. Now its over cuz she went as far as to tell me that if she cant text him when she feel like then she doesnt want to be his friend; he said screw it cuz he didnt consider her a friend. But thats the end of that

Hey Yardies,

Ivan got his AP and EAD in the mail yesterday!! He screamed when he opened the letter because its feels like we have been waiting forever.

I had to chime in on the phone discussion because we just had this same issue last week. He called a girl that he used to talk to that lives in the area. His goal was to link the girl up with one of his friends back in JA. The day that he spoke with her, she asked him if his wife approved of them talking. He later that day asked if I would mind being her friend and them talking. And I'm like "For what?". Why would I want to be her friend? He then later tells me that he is trying to link her with his friend. I'm sitting here thinking what kind of chick would date you, then date your friend. I just thought the suggestion was crazy. Two days later I see that she has called two days in a row and the conversations are lasting way too long. So of course, I asked him about it. Long story short, we had a long discussion about and we called her to confirm their conversation. She was really cool and respectful of our relationship. She even told me that she was concerned that I would not be ok with them talking and asked him about it. The bottom line is that I don't feel like there is a reason for my man to communicate with previous chicks. She is in the past for a reason. He didn't really understand why I wasn't feeling it. But I just think its disrespectful. Not to mention, everyone is not respectful of your relationship and many people can't stand to see you happy, so they cause drama because they are unhappy. My point is don't open the door for potential drama when you don't have to. People are in your past for a reason, so that is where they need to stay. I admit I check my phone bills, but hubby knew that I was somewhat insecure based on past relationships and knew that it was his burden to prove that he was different. I feel like you have to do what's best for your relationship and express when you are unhappy with something. Otherwise, they will assume that its ok. As far as BM, I don't have a problem with that. I feel like its appropriate to converse with them whenever necessary because I do the same with my BF. I call to let him know how her day went, if she got in trouble, etc..And she is 7 years old. I think both parents should be fully involved in their child's life, even if they are not together. And whatever it takes to raise that child has to be done. As long as both parents are respectful of the significant others. Just my 2 cents...

My point exactly and its harder when you dont get respect from hubby's friends. So far we are doing good and Im glad that rude girl is out the picture. As for the rest of his friends, they are respectful to our marriage and I love that... He can talk to who he wants as long as they accept our marriage

I agree with you ladies and if I were in your shoes, id probably feel the same.. cept my hubby pays his own bill and we are on different plans... so im not going looking for nothing because if it comes out he is talking to someone else I will approach it and if something should happen in our relationship where he feels like this aint working, I guess he better start making his way back to JA. Certain things I just aint tolerating.... Everyone dont have to agree, its just me!

Really I wasnt seeking things out, as I said, I talked to her before and she seemed all cool. Then when I kindly asked her not to text him at 5 am, she came at me like I shouldnt tell her what she can do with my husband, even though he told her the same thing. Some women just make it hard for the rest of us lol.

I do see your point but to clarify- he doesnt consider a friend nor were they talking throughout our relationship- so I do believe I had a reason to be mad.

I tries to stay out and mind my own business but I do think you had a reason to be mad. I was in the same boat with my ex and I was hotter than fish grease at certain times. I also disagree and think when you get married certain things do need to change. Some of the friends you had before no you can longer have as married folk or lets say maybe your relationship needs to be toned down. To me alot of things change when you get married before you said I do you could walk away and not look back but when married its not that easy or it shouldn't be that easy. Matter of fact I could go on and on but I won't...
