I am purchasing a ticket for my wife to fly straight from Manila to Los Angeles. Has anybody here flown that route before?

I was reading Philippine Airlines policies on their website, and one policy is that if the ticket is purchased for the passenger by someone who is not accompanying them, the ticket holder must also provide a photocopy of the credit card used, as well as a photocopied ID of the person who the credit card belongs to.

Does PAL strictly enforce this policy?

Also, it is possible that my mother will be purchasing my wife's plane ticket with her credit card to ease the financial burdon of our travel. My mother has a completely different last name as me, as she is remarried. If my wife were to show a copy of my mother's credit card and ID, would there be an issue regarding the names?

I have a very small time window in which to go pick up my wife and fly her back to New York before I have to return to work (I'm in the Army). I just want to make sure everything is going to go right the first time.

If anybody has any suggestions, or has done this before please let me know.

Thanks.

Mark

It is routine for PAL to check the ID and credit card copies/images if the traveler is different than the purchaser. So expect it in your case.

Mark,

You just need to send her a photocopy of the credit card and ID for the person who purchased the ticket. They don't care about last names, etc.. PAL does STRICTLY enforce this.

Make sure it's a clear picture of the credit card.. My Milagros told me that they complained in the airport about another passenger who didn't have a good clear photocopy.

Best regards,

-Jared

When purchasing a ticket, you can go thru a travel agent and have this done with no problems, or just follow PAL's guidelines.

Important Notice

To avoid fraudulent transactions and to protect credit card owners, PAL reserves the right to require that the credit card used in purchasing the ticket(s) online be presented at the ticket collection point, upon check-in or in cases of reissuance, rebooking or refund of a ticket. If the credit card owner is not part of the travelling party and is unable to present the credit card used, PAL also reserves the right to require the presentation of clear photocopies of the front of the credit card and the valid PHOTO ID of the credit card owner at the ticket collection point, upon check-in and in cases of reissuance, rebooking and/or refund. It shall be the responsibility of the credit card owner to ensure that the passenger(s) comply with the requirement.

PAL reserves the right to deny boarding to passenger(s) or refuse to reissue, revalidate, rebook or refund a ticket for failure to comply with foregoing requirements.

OK, not a problem. How about if it is not a photocopy of the ID and credit card but a computer scan, printed with a color printer? I'd say that sounds better..

Thanks for the responses.

Technically that is a photocopy, just a color photographic copy...

Is it different if you buy the ticket through Expedia? I think the price is actually a bit cheaper for PAL on Expedia than on PAL's website. I know people on VJ have used Expedia for tickets for their SOs without any ID issues.

Really? I am a little nervous about using Expedia because they are a third party. I would prefer to deal directly with PAL, even if it is a little more costly...

I purchased ticket for my Fiancee to fly on Continental from Manila,Guam,Hawaii,Houston to Louisiana for May 3rd. I called Continental to ? this and they told me that it was not required with them for proof of who purchased the ticket. I ended up sending her copy of the credit card I used and my ID anyway. I have heard that PAL does request this so I would do the same just to be safe and not incur any problems with your Fiancee's departure.

I've used Expedia for many years and have never had one issue with a ticket issued through them. I flew all over the planet using expedia. They give you confirmation number just like any other agent or the airline. Expedia is one of the more trustworthy sites out there. And you check in just like any other method. The only thing bad about PAL is you can't do early seat assignment on the lowest fares. You can't do early assignment on expedia or PAL for the lowest price. You get assigned seats around check in time....and sometimes you can call 24 hrs early and get an isle or window seat.
