The consulate does interviews on a first come first serve basis. If you line up at the door first, you are interviewed first regardless of your scheduled interview time.

It is pretty normal for beneficiary's to attend the interview without their SO's, so don't worry about that. Him not being there will not have an impact on your approval or denial, provided you are prepared with all the necessary information and/or evidence.

As far as the fees go, I'm not sure what CR-1's pay, sorry!

Go early because it is first come, first serve DESPITE what the interview letter says (i.e.: saying that your interview is at 8:30). If you are the first person there, you will almost always be the first (or second, at most) person to get processed. If time is not an issue for you, you can show up later if you'd like. Just be prepared to wait for awhile inside.

No. CR-1s pay no fees at the consulate -- they were paid earlier on in the process.

It depends on which panel physician you are doing your medical with. Each has a different process.

No. I was there on my own too and was approved without any question as to why my wife wasn't there. If you are going there to get immigration documents FOR your kids, that's probably a different story though.

Okay, they're YOUR kids and his stepkids. Got it. No, you should be fine then. He shouldn't need to be there for that.
