hello VJs,

a quick question regarding the change of address. My friend is a GC holder and moved to another state, does she need to file the AR-11 for her and I-865 for her husband? or is it only for those who are still on the AOS process...

i know it must be within 10 days after moving, is there anyone in here filed the change of address after a month? did you get a penalty or consequences for filing late?

please share. thank you...

A PR/Green Card holder must notify USCIS of an address change until they either become a US Citizen or leave the country permanently. The Sponsor (does the I-865) as long as they're considered the sponsor (a long time, in other words).

Am not aware of a penalty - or that anyone's ever gotten one - your friend should just do the COA as soon as possible (if they're late in doing so).

Thank you for the quick reply, I'll tell her right away to file it ASAP.She forgot about it because of the moving thing and now she's so worried about the penalty and consequences. It's been a month they moved.

thank you.

i filed my COA a few weeks ago (mailed the hard copy) and i still don't have a receipt from USCIS saying they got it. i made a mistake of mailing it via regular mail. not certified mail so i don't have any idea if they got it or not. :bonk:

i didn't file online because there's no space provided for mailing address (my mailing address is a PO Box and our physical address doesn't have a mailbox so can't receive mail) that's why i decided to do the hard copy. i wrote "physical" and "mailing" on the form for clarification. the only address that changed was the physical one. mailing is still the same

.

now i am getting worried and paranoid. ugh! :bonk:

I have filed COA already for 4 times since I had to stay in other state for my work purposes. Every time you move and settle to a new place, you have to change your address if you are a GC holder.

You have 10 days to file the COA upon your arrival in the new address.

I changed my address for several times now. First time I did it was when we moved to a different apartment when we're still living in San Diego, CA then changed it again when we transferred to Arizona. I actually had to changed it three times here in Arizona because the first house we were in was at my husband's bestfriend then 2 weeks after that we moved to a house but because my job is in downtown Phoenix, we decided to transfer again for convenience purposes. All these COA I made were done online. I just printed out a copy of the completed COA for my records.

07/25/08 - received NOA (AOS, EAD, AP)

07/29/08 - received ASC Appointment Notice (Biometrics)

08/11/08 - I485 and I765 touched

09/17/08 - AP approved

09/19/08 - EAD approved, card already in production

09/24/08 - EAD card received

09/25/08 - SSN application

10/01/08 - received letter re: SSN card delivery in 2 weeks
