Now Im posting this because I feel that others have had this question and would be beneficial to other members.

Out of curiousity, I know the instructions here talk about sending in a certified marriage license (especially for Adjustment of Status for Foreign Spouses living in the US), so why does USCIS instructions for the updated forms say and request a "copy of marriage license" as the USCIS clearly states "USCIS no longer routinely requires submission of original documents or "certified copies." Instead, ordinary legible photocopies of such documents (including naturalization certificates and alien registration cards) will be acceptable for initial filing and approval of petitions and applications.

At the discretion of the officer, original documents may still be required in individual cases. Please be advised that USCIS no longer returns original documents submitted with the exception of Certificates of Naturalization, Forms I-551, Permanent Resident Card, Forms I-94, Arrival/Departure Document, valid passports, or those specifically requested by the officer. Such documents will be returned when they are no longer needed."

Because this STILL isn't fixed and because I read the form instructions and know AOS to only need a copy, not a certified copy.

I can change, however obtaining an extra certified copy and submitting it is fairy easy to do if planned ahead (in the guides). It can prevent an RFE if they require it. Would you say it is acceptable to say "only a regular copy is required, but a certified copy may be submitted to eliminate any chance of an RFE; USCIS has the right (optionally and based on a case by case basis) to ask for a certified copy in the form of an RFE."?
