Ooh dont get me started on that one! you know what really pisses me off - spouses of H1B visas can basically just go to the consulate and get a visa that same f******g week!!!! i think its called an L1 visa or so. they cant do a damn thing, like work, get drivers license etc etc, but they can get it like in a week or so. its the only time i've cursed myself for being a USC and wished i had an H1b instead!

it is TOTALLY unfair and f*****d as to how USCs are non-prioritized! if anything we should have the right and priority to bring our spouses over. i can understand time pending for a security check and I'm cool with that. but to go thru the cattle run like this and have H1Bs and other categories take priority is totally messed up.

To me this is the worst, most unfair thing of the lot. That's insane. Someone in my extended family got married to an Indian H1B holder last winter and she was in the U.S. within 10 days of their wedding. Since then, I've had family members calling to ask me why my husband isn't "trying harder" to get me there? "Are you sure he's really a USC?" ARGH.

Similarly, the waiting time for spouses of LPR is sheer rubbish. I can't believe how long Vivek's been waiting.

I get the same when it comes to K1 Visa vs. CR1. I have quite a few relatives that got engaged in Ukraine & wore able to bring their fiance over within 3/4mo so I get asked all the time why it's taking so long on our end?! If I f***** knew! My hubby always tells everyone to ask Obama

Yup same exact thing here too. My brother-in-law's bro came here on an L1 thru his wife's H1B. I'm happy for all of them, but that's total and utter BS when it comes to USCs. and yes it pisses me off to no f*****n end when some douchebag asks me "why cant you just take her to the US embassy and get her a visa, like so and so did..."?!?!

although on a bit more jovial end, everytime i see a hindi (or any) movie where the hero and heroine are thinking of running off to america, i think they should be notified "umm, you're gonna need an I-130 and then a G325A and then a DS-230 form and well you gotta show affidavit of support which would be an I-864, not to mention a DS-3032 choice of agent form and then you'll have to wait 5 months for USCIS and then listen to the nice (rather manly) lady tell you that every call is important and given personal attention at the NVC...". that'll put dampers on any plan to "run off to america" haha ))

And what is this I am reading on the Mumbai Embassy about DNA samples. Do they request it from ppl who share a child or I am missing something here?! I cannot afford the holdup!

DNA testing may be recommended to support an application for an immigrant visa or to transmit U.S. citizenship. DNA analyzes the genetic material in human cells and has been found to be over 99% accurate in verifying parent/child relationships. The testing is entirely voluntary and all costs and expenses must be paid entirely by the visa or passport applicant and/or family. Test results are usually available within a month.

SO if it says it's voluntary what happens if we op'd out?

Yes its total Rubbish.......I don't know why LPR's have to be punished for doing things the legal way. Here is a story about me that came in the newspapers when I was actively involved in changing this cruel law. I finally gave up.

Usually, if there's doubt regarding the parentage of the child who is immigrating.

Your child is a USC as a result of her birth in the US. And via you, the mother.

I read somewhere that someone voluntarily took the test to provide it as bonafide evidence.

But like I said, moot point in your case.
