Speaking of priorities, can I just b*tch about some of the K-1 timelines I see around here? Seriously, their ENTIRE relationship is less than the time I've been married (and I've not been married for that long either) and they get their interview dates exactly 3 months from their NOA1? ARGH.

I know I'm supposed to be "happy for them" but I can't help but be resentful.

I think a lot of those get declined - Also they are more scrutinized at interview..

I do agree with you though - there should be some kind of priority set for different visa filers...

So my Hubby took vaccination records today from his doctor and is having his medical tomorrow :) I am happy he is doing it now, just one less thing for us to worry about once we do get the interview date.

Yule! Tell me your secret! Husby is still dragging his feet. I've threatened to take a plane over there and jab him myself if he won't go. He just laughed.

My secret is that he actually feels very bad that so far all of the work has been done by me, and everytime there is a chance for him to do something he jumps right on it...Mmmmmm the sweet taste of guilt.

F'in SERIOUSLY. I'm so happy you made that point. I am very happy for them too - sometimes I wish we would have done the K1... but then you have that horrible wait time and more paperwork and MORE MONEY. I envy those time lines. Me and my husband have been through HELL seriously... and although I am happy we did it this way (long term) I get jealous of those who get that 3 month window. They have no idea how horrible this process really is. :hehe:

Honestly - I think that CRI should get priority since the relationship is already existing. An K1 poses the risk (to the State Department) that you have someone coming to the US who is NOT yet LEGALLY a relative of the USC and could potentially remain illegally, etc. Here the CR1's are already married, relationship exists... #######?

Ah. Yeah. Husby doesn't do well with guilt. I'm thinking about getting his mom involved. She'll be sure it gets done next week.

And that flower.... It's us. We've gone so completely bonkers.

Guess what message I received yesterday!!!

Sign In Failed

Please be advised that the case that you have attempted to access is not eligible for further processing by the National Visa Center at this time. Please click on the Contact the NVC hyperlink if you believe that you have received this message in error.

I hope this means that the interview date will be coming soon! I have been checking my e-mail like crazy, but nothing yet. How do you know when the case is complete for those who have had their sign-in fail and then posted "case complete"? Just curious if I should call the NVC or just wait. But in any event... sign in fail Woo hoo!!!

So, got to work this morning - turned on the computer, and was just about to (you guessed it) check the payment portal for 10th time already this morning, when the deputies came by to say, "Exit the building and wait in the front parking lot"

Apparently somebody called in a bomb threat to the court house.

An hour later, we're allowed back in, and I can still sign in...

The universe is just NOT going to cooperate with me today.

Ahhhh, crazy

I third this motion, although not entirely. one of my good college buddies just had his K1 approved for his fiance (he's american, she's japanese) and it took him 4 months to get it thru the VSC. here's the kicker - he's in the foreign service and used to work for the American consulate being a visa and passport officer in Guyana (ie the one conducting the interviews!). he told me loads of fraud stories from Guyana. The K1s do get scrutinized a lot more than IR/Cr-1s...

what pisses me off the most (guess its an afterthought now), is the fact that it took almost 5 and half months to get my f'in USCIS approval despite the applying for the K3. when i had initially started the I-130 process, i had read on VJ to NOT go for the K3, as some cases have shown that it just delays the IR/cr-1. maybe the tagging the 130 and I-129F together did delay my approval, i dont know, as it ended up taking 5+ months to get the approval. i keep wondering if it would've been approved earlier had i just done the IR/cr-1...

if that stupid K3 rule had not been adopted on feb 1st, i think most of us would have been looking at interview dates already. i guess the K3 would have saved us about a month (well worth the extra 600 bux u pay to do adjustment of status when you get here on the K3), but then again, you have to wait to get a work permit and SS# etc etc and yes i know in the long run that the ir/cr-1 is the best way, but what i wouldnt give to have my wife here a month earlier!

Once in awhile, right in the middle of an ordinary life, love gives us a fairy tale - My beautiful wife Soni

I agree!!! We were told to avoid the K3 because of the cost at the end and was told it takes the same amount of time. Time is more precious than any amount of money, for sure. Especially in certain circumstances. I feel my husbands sanity slipping sloooooooooowly. Oh well! It is what it is.. I am feeling a bit better now that I get to vent to all of you. If I didnt have VJ, I'd have went bonkers ages ago.

Timeline

Speaking of priorities, can I just b*tch about some of the K-1 timelines I see around here? Seriously, their ENTIRE relationship is less than the time I've been married (and I've not been married for that long either) and they get their interview dates exactly 3 months from their NOA1? ARGH.

I know I'm supposed to be "happy for them" but I can't help but be resentful.

I can't figure that one out too! Like really they are priority over married couples and couples with children?! Just proves how messed up everything is! :bonk:
