I just recently started a new job. What can I do about the income question? Will I have to have a co-sponsor?? Or can I send my last 2 years and employment letter stating I am making enough? Thanks in advance.

Depends. As long as you meet the poverty guidelines then you can list your current income. Income tax return transcripts for the past 3 years,(or copies of the returns and w-2's) current employment letter stating current income etc should do the trick.

I got the NVC case number assigned on March 29th, which I obtained via the automated voice system yesterday.

Here's my question: Does it make any sense for me to give them my email or my wife's email, since we already have an appointed agent, the lawyer? The AVR system's recorded voice said I should wait 6-8 weeks for the lawyer to get a notification.

Can we give the lawyer's email instead? Just asking! I'm just looking for ways to speed it up!

The point is, the DS3032 would not be needed by NVC since they will assume the lawyer to be the agent. So do I still need to give them my email address?

I guess I'll just call NVC and ask them. But does anyone here have an opinion on it?

I agree with Sachinky....Please familiarize yourself with the in's and out's of the NVC shortcut's. Can't stress enough the importance of this. I had a print out of the guide at home and at office for quick reference when ever I was in doubt. Knowing the guide will give you good control over the process.

Here are a few things that are not included in the guide but we learned during the process. I don't know much about EP process so this list may not be one size fits all.

1) DS-3032 can be sent by email. The section in the Guide to generate barcodes for DS-3032 is a bit out dated.

2) If the beneficiary was previously in the US on a J1 visa do not forget to include the copy of your visa along with the DS-230 packet. Even if you submitted them when you filed your I-130 you will have to do this again.

3) If the petitioner’s income is not significantly over the poverty line consider include the bank statements with your AOS packet.

4) Make sure the income you state for last three years on your I-864 matches exactly to the income reported in your tax returns.

5) Pay attention to question #30 on your DS-230 form. Make sure you include all the places the beneficiary had stayed since the age of 16 to present without any gaps.

6) Get working on your police certificates ASAP. This will save you a lot of time and grief.

Follow the guide and avoid some of the common mistakes mentioned above and hopefully you will fly through NVC without going through RFE hell. Other's can add or improve the suggestions above.

Sachi has posted a more comprehensive list of documents needed for each packets. Please pay attention to the list.

Yes you should provide both your email address and contact information to the NVC operator. If you have to follow up with an NVC operator regarding your case they will always verify your Name, email and DOB before they will divulge any information.

NVC will still notify you by email (even if you have a lawyer) about the AOS and IV bill's and provide you with the links to make the payment. You can log into the website to make and track these payments.

Giving your emails does not change the choice of agent. Your choice of agent will still be your lawyer and you are correct that you can bypass the DS-3032 stage.

Nevermind! I just received an email from "NVC Attorney" sent to my lawyer and cc'd to me mentioning the two bills to be paid.

So it seems everyone who provides an email address in the I-130 is already "opted in" for emails.
