Btw someone said to make copies of your original things when they are sent for the DS-230 package. Does those copies need to be translated or can they be in the original language?? Thanks in davance.

You might want to review all 7 pages at DS-230 - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html

One is to submit original with translation, plus a photocopy of original plus a photocopy of that translation.

Good Luck !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

You need translations of the originals and the copies should be too. You send copies in the DS-230 packet so that you can have your originals back. They will return them too you at your interview :)

I did not send translations because I read (and verified with the operator) that if you are sending originals and they are in the official language of the country where the interview will be conducted you do not need translations. Just originals and photocopies.

I was very paranoid about sending those so I spoke to two different operators and both verified that no translations are needed.

There's a 5 lb. package on its way to Bangkok. Sent Friday. Could my case be included in that? Who knows. It's fun to speculate, though.

Looks good, hon. The originals are probably A4 size. That's how all the Thai ones are, too. Pain in the butt. Go back and recopy them just to be sure. You don't want them keeping your originals for something silly like that. On the copy machine, there should be a "resize" option. It should say "A4 -> Letter" or something like that. If not, just decrease it to 92% of the original size.

If I understand you correctly. YES Your employment letter is just to show current employment. Dont use that amount. The income information will be what your last filed tax return would show (or transcript) line 21.

Thanks for the confirmation atsleumas:)

Just a note to clarify, line 21 is "Other income"...line 22 is "total income" on the 1040 2009 Income tax form.

Another thing to note, (this threw me off for a while) on the AOS #"24. My total income (adjusted gross income on IRS Form 1040EZ) as reported on my Federal tax returns for the most recent tax years was:"...The 1040EZ form doesn't have a "total income". So if you didn't use the 1040EZ, you won't use the "adjusted gross income".

Hope everyone is having a Happy Easter :)

I have a question - more out of curiosity than practicality, because I've already sent everything to NVC.

The I-864 provides for your income, and income of other family members in your household, but I couldn't find a place anywhere to declare the $7,096/year income from child support payments.

Luckily, I make well above the poverty line even without the payments, so I just chose not to declare the child support at all.

Also, it says that if you're using income from another family member you have to provide tax info and such for that family member, but my daughter is only 9 years-old, and has no tax obligation - child support isn't taxable income anyway.

I thought about sending in a note, explaining that I get an additional 7k in child support along with canceled checks...but I guess it doesn't really matter - except that my '07 income showed me below poverty line (I was unemployed) although with the child support it would have put me over the poverty line - any thoughts?
