Does anyone know where I can find an example or know what should be included in the letter from my employer? I'm actually typing the letter and my HR manager will just sign it, so I'm wondering how i should type it up...

I would advise people to WAIT until the AOS/DS3032 emails are sent by NVC. I know a lot of people -- including me -- sent it as soon as we got our case numbers but the reason that was okay was that at that point of time it was taking nearly 5-7 days for it to be accepted and so it was safe since by the time they accepted our DS3032, the actual email was in our inboxes. But now it's being accepted in 1-3 days so it is advisable to wait since your Choice of Agent can't be accepted before they actually requested it.

Doesn't hurt to try though, I suppose.

Pay attention, non-EP NVC noobs. Here's Christeen's time tested formula to get you through NVC in one piece alive:

Petitioner: Get NVC # + give operator your email IDs + receive AOS fee bill + pay 70$ online + wait to show paid + print cover sheet + send I-864 AOS with all documents and case # written on each page.

Beneficiary: Get NVC# + receive DS3032 + send DS3032+ DS3032 accepted + IV fee bill available to be paid + pay & wait to show paid + print IV cover sheet + mail DS230 package with all original/certified documents

= wait for case complete + wait for interview to be scheduled.

Suggestions:

1) Have the beneficiary mail SIGNED extra DS230s to you so that you have them handy in case something goes wrong. Or you get hit by a dreaded RFE.

2) If you just received your NOA2, THIS is the time to get your tax stuff and police certificates sorted out. Don't waste time on this.

3) Double check the PCC requirements in the regional forums as they are country specific.

4) Check the pinned STUPID RFEs thread in IR-1/CR-1 forum.

Currently the # of business days NVC is taking:

3-4 days for NVC to receive your case and assign a case #.

3-4 days to receive emailed links after case # has been assigned and email addresses been given to NVC operator.

1-2 days for the AOS bill to show as PAID.

1-3 days for DS3032 to be accepted.

1-2 days for IV bill to be PAID.

8-9 days for case complete after all your documents have been sent in.

Regarding the AOS package:

First thing, I would recommend is that you print out the I-864 form and read the instructions about 2 times. Mark out the relevant portions and ask any questions you might have after that. I would suggest you read the guides for a comprehensive idea about how the AOS packet will comprise.

Recommended AOS package:

I-864 Coversheet (with barcode) for payment of $70

Form I-864 (signed and dated)

2009 Federal Tax Return/W2 and 1099s or IRS tax transcript.

2008 Federal Tax Return and W2 and 1099s or IRS tax transcript.

2007 Federal Tax Return/W2 and 1099s or IRS Tax Transcript

Letter of Employment

Pay stub(s) from the most recent six months

Bank Statements.

Remember, the USC petitioner will file a I-864 regardless of income. If your joint s

ponsor lives in the same household as the petitioner, then they will use I-864A. If they live in a separate residence, then they will fill in another I-864.

For your joint sponsor you will need proof of their citizenship/residency. For household member, you will need proof of relationship and same household/residence.

A guide to the DS230 packet for Indian beneficiaries.--Cover sheet for Immigrant Visa Bill of $400.

--Two (2) Passport Size Photographs of Beneficiary (Beneficiary's full name, and date of birth are written on back of both).

--DS-230 Part 1 completed and signed by beneficiary.

--DS-230 Part 2 completed by beneficiary, unsigned, as of yet, per instructions.

--Original Marriage certificate

--Photocopy of Marriage Certificate

--Original Birth Certificate

--Photocopy of Birth Certificate

--Original Police Clearance Certificate from Local Police Station, Calcutta

--Original Police Clearance Certificate from Regional Passport Office, Calcutta

--Photocopy of beneficiary's Indian passport.

Here's the part we've all been waiting for. Your sign in fails! What happens AFTER you get a SIGN IN FAILED?

Check the AVR/confirm with an operator that your case has indeed completed processing at NVC.

CR-1 interviews are scheduled by NVC. The interview letter will be e-mailed to both the beneficiary and the petitioner.

You can track the DHL packages sent out from Portsmouth, NH to your consulate.

Keep bugging NVC till they assign your date. Not too much, though.

You can check the US Consulate's website for updates on interviews. Most consulate's have an interview schedule updated bi-weekly.

You can also call your consulate for regular updates on how busy the consulate is that month.

Get your medical out of the way. The medical is country specific, so check out your regional forums.

Usually, you need 2-3 photographs, passport, interview letter, and your medical records but I'm sure requirements differ.

P.S. FYI: I send my W-7 back in Feb and they just got it into the system on Friday and they put it on hold because the copy of the passport was not authenticated by the U.S. Embassy, any copy done locally they will not take...They will only accept a true certified copy by the U.S. Embassy.

PITA, I know. If you're not able to get to the US Embassy then you can have it certified with an Apostille because Sri Lanka is a signatory to the Hague Convention. In Australia it's a costly exercise (and even more of a PITA) so not sure how it would be over there. First had to have a Public Notary certify it ($100 per document) before I could take it to DFAT for the apostille ($60 per page).

Btw someone said to make copies of your original things when they are sent for the DS-230 package. Does those copies need to be translated or can they be in the original language?? Thanks in davance.

You need translations of the originals and the copies should be too. You send copies in the DS-230 packet so that you can have your originals back. They will return them too you at your interview
