Just follow the great advise of everyone here :) Have everything ready to send, pay the fees the minute they're available, overnight all your documents to them and make sure all your documents are perfect (I got really lucky with that). If you follow the advise of everyone here and use LingChe's shortcut, you'll fly right through!!

I'm curious as to what people have done in this situation. We received our AOS bill Mar 31st and paid it as soon as we got the email. It shows presently as 'in process' on the online payment system. When calling NVC the AVR indicates that NVC has received the AOS bill but it doesn't say paid.

That said, I know that it has to show paid/be paid before sending the prescribed cover sheet on the Dept of State site. Has anyone done anything differently. Like I said the AVR said it received the AOS bill but the online system shows in process and it won't allow me to obtain the cover sheet.

Just curious.

Later...

Something smells. Check yer USA bank account - were the funds already withdrawn? If not, perhaps is a 'balance' problem? I hope not. IF you had some 'down to zero' transactions during that week - it may be that the NVC payment didn't take - and IF it doesn't take the first time - NVC will retry, twice, until it does.

Usually, it's 1 to 2 days AFTER the bank transaction, for the 'paid' indicator to be set in the online portal

Does anyone know where I can find an example or know what should be included in the letter from my employer? I'm actually typing the letter and my HR manager will just sign it, so I'm wondering how i should type it up...

P.S. FYI: I send my W-7 back in Feb and they just got it into the system on Friday and they put it on hold because the copy of the passport was not authenticated by the U.S. Embassy, any copy done locally they will not take...They will only accept a true certified copy by the U.S. Embassy.

Anyone hear rumour of NVC Online Payment Portal hacking for March? It seems that NVC slowed down a lot for March, picking up some speed again (or back to 'normal') the last week of March..
