you cannot really get your police cert until you get your NOA2 i think.

so techinically i think the fastest anyone could get their police cert is if they went and got it right after NOA2 and all that. then rushed to send it out to us in the usa. so maybe it makes sense for your lawyer to tell you to get it after you got your NOA2??

i made the mistake of thinking you did not need to get fingerprinted until the embassy contacted you. since the embassy is the only people allowed to even open the thing! :crying:

so we are 2 weeks behind where we could have been.

all in all i WISH we had hired a lawyer. i think it would have reduced stress and made it go more smoothly....

I think there are some countries that will not give out the Police Certificate without a request from the NVC or something like that. And some countries will not give it to you. They will send it only directly to the NVC. But I think most countries, like Russia, will give you the PC as long as you pay the fee. Also, it is only good for a specific amount of time depending on the country, so you can't get it too far in advance. I think that in Russia it is good for a year so we could have had it ready long beforehand.

Good evening to all the April NVCers! I'm setting up camp here and this is our month! Good to see new faces as well as some very knowledgable ones from the March thread!

My husband and I made a lot of good progress last month through NVC and purposely are taking it a bit slow as we want a June interview. But, the deadline for that is quickly approaching! My husband has all of his documents and is going on Tuesday to get them translated and certified. Then he will send them quickly to me so I can send in the IV packet, the second week of April. I am also finishing up the AOS packet. The HR department in my school district was nice enough to write me an employment letter but did so in my maiden name...even though I have legally changed it, brought in proof, it's in the computer, and I specifically asked for it. UGH! So, I'm hoping this week it gets done. Also, finally got all of my W2's so I'm visiting the accountant tomorrow to get the 2009 taxes finished and then all that's left to do is write two cover letters and pay the IV bill. Oh yeah...and wait...

Good luck to us all and may the journey through NVC be quick and painless!!

It is always advisable to get your PCCs done while you're waiting for your NOA2. I got mine in November. They didn't need anything apart from my marriage certificate, my passprt, my husband's passport copy and a cover letter from me stating why I needed it.

Check out your PCC specifications and try to get them as early as possible. Check out the regional forums.

You need to wait for DS3032 email... you will got it shortly.

DS-3032 will go back to NVC from your beneficiary email

AOS fee will be normally paid by petitioner.

This is copied from MARCH forum Sachinky's

Pay attention, non-EP NVC noobs. Here's Christeen's time tested formula to get you through NVC in one piece alive:

Petitioner: Get NVC # + give operator your email IDs + receive AOS fee bill + pay 70$ online + wait to show paid + print cover sheet + send I-864 AOS with all documents and case # written on each page.

Beneficiary: Get NVC# + receive DS3032 + send DS3032+ DS3032 accepted + IV fee bill available to be paid + pay & wait to show paid + print IV cover sheet + mail DS230 package with all original/certified documents

= wait for case complete + wait for interview to be scheduled.

Suggestions:

1) Have the beneficiary mail SIGNED extra DS230s to you so that you have them handy in case something goes wrong. Or you get hit by a dreaded RFE.

2) If you just received your NOA2, THIS is the time to get your tax stuff and police certificates sorted out. Don't waste time on this.

3) Double check the PCC requirements in the regional forums as they are country specific.

4) Check the pinned STUPID RFEs thread in IR-1/CR-1 forum.

Currently the # of business days NVC is taking:

3-4 days for NVC to receive your case and assign a case #.

3-4 days to receive emailed links after case # has been assigned and email addresses been given to NVC operator.

1-2 days for the AOS bill to show as PAID.

1-3 days for DS3032 to be accepted.

1-2 days for IV bill to be PAID.

8-11 days for case complete after all your documents have been sent in.

Thanks for quick reply, Deep and Sachinky...:).

My AOS is ready, but I have a problem with my Tax Return for 2007. I hope I will walk through this step.

2007: no income

2008: my income was less than 125% poverty for this year. Household size is 3)

2009-present: above 125% poverty.

A co-sponsor should be considered? or I'm gonna be ok? :) (my co-sponsor only had 2 years of tax return: 2008-2009 (no income for 2007), of course his income exceeded 125% poverty. 30K+ for 2008, 40K+ for 2009).

If you currently make well and above the poverty guidelines for 2009 you should be fine. You have filed taxes already, yes?

I'd DEFINITELY add the paystubs and employment letter to demonstrate current income.

I think you'll pass through NVC fine, although it is best to have a back up joint sponsor just in case for the interview.
