Thanks Bears! She's actually not convinced yet. The whole process has made her a little pessimistic. She refuses to believe it until she hears the AVR change, which it hasnt yet. And here I am, all excited and hyper, and she's asking me "what the hell's wrong with you?". I so love her... I just wish she was on VJ too, that way she woulda known...

Cute! Good thing the AVR will update soon. Or perhaps she can call and confirm it. Have you confirmed with the operator yet?

Thanks Hobo! But I am actually Chennai consulate. So I'm in the same boat as everyone else now. But at least I'm in the boat..

oh cool - then we're in the same exact boat together! welcome on board dude!

actually that's kinda cool, cuz we can sort of track each other. i actually emailed chennai last monday to see if they could give me an interview date (since my CC was apr 14th). i didnt expect to get a date; was just floating the waters. they emailed back and said to contact NVC since only NVC schedules interviews. another little titbit - i asked them if i, the USC, could be present for the interview. they actually emailed back and said that apparently the USC spouse can ask for permission to be present at the interview via email (see exact text below: "

This is in response to your inquiry. Only the applicant will be permitted to come in. If youwish to come in with her, you must send in a request by email and then you will be notified if you are permitted."). i would really love to be there with my wife and so initially i had thought that i would just be sweltering in the hot sun outside (since you're still allowed into the consulate as an USC), but now there may be a chance.

anyway, i'm curious - which town did your wife have to get her PCC from (that was such a pain)? my wife's getting her local PCC (in bangalore) on monday (we sorted things out with the local police station last week with bribe etc)...

That's good to know that you can request permission to accompany your wife at the interview. That will make things easier for everyone involved. My wife's from Hyderabad and they give grief in the form of asking for an official request from the NVC in order to issue an NVC. But the real problem was the fact that there were communal riots in the city right after she applied. That had delayed it by about 20 days. But then the power of the Rupee got the job done, as usual...

Cute! Good thing the AVR will update soon. Or perhaps she can call and confirm it. Have you confirmed with the operator yet?

I havent spoken with anyone yet. The AVR is definitely not updated and I couldnt hold to speak with someone since I'm at wwork. I shouldnt be on VJ either. ;) But dont you tell on me..

going on vivekjay's and kirthiraj's timelines, for chennai, i'm expecting an early june interview (keeping all fingers, toes and eyes crossed!) for my wife. i think you would net out either 3rd or 4th week of june (hopefully earlier obviously!)...

SeanJohn - congratulations on SIF   Hope you get your interview date soon

TheBears - I am not as frustrated as you are as far as getting the interview date. I believe you should get it soon thought since you had CC a longer than me! From what I have been reading about Ankara embassy is that they are giving out interview dates 3 months or more after CC. I just hope that isn't the case. Just thinking about waiting that long for interview date makes me *beep* haha.

So hang in there and I am sure your interview date will be soon! I will be keeping you in my prayers just like everyone else here :star:

Guys.... I have a stupid question.

At the last minute, my joint sponsor's having cold feet and marital issues. For the sanity of all involved, she'd rather not sponsor if there is an alternative, but is willing to if there is no other option.

So we're working up the forms for my mom to be joint sponsor. We didn't do this from the beginning because it's tricky.

Situation:

My mom and I live together in her house. We both pay household bills, but it's not specific. I don't pay rent to her.

2008 tax status was MFJ, still legally married and maintaining a residence with The Ex for various reasons despite the fact that our marital relationship had been over for a few years (Long Story). Mid 2009 saw our divorce finalized and my subsequent marriage to Husby. Mid 2009 also saw The Ex and I move to different residences. Like I said, I'm with my mom. My son is with me.

2009 taxes were HOH with one dependant because I provided (much) over half of the support for my son even though we are living with my mom and Husby wasn't with us for the last 6 months of the year. My mom's 2009 filing status is single with no dependants. Essentially, there are two distinct households at the same residence.

Stupid Question: Does my mom need I-864 or I-864A? I'm thinking I-864 because our taxes don't intermingle at all. It's only the address that's the same. Or is a shared residence alone enough to make one a "household member"? Or... do we have the option to take our pick in which form to use?

See? It's tricky. If done correctly, Husby will be here soon. If screwed up, it's either going to cause 221g request for the right form or it's lying on a government document. Either way, Husby would be in for a long wait.

Ok folks, I think it's safe to take me off the waiting for SIF/CC list and put me on the waiting for interview email list.

Yes, that's right! After all the stress and heartbreaks and sleepless nights and dreams of a possible RFE, my day has finally arrived...Thank you Almighty!

I followed you guys' advice and went home, made my self some good food, ate it watching Final Destination2 and then Untraceable(both awesome movies btw) and then was about to turn in when I remembered that the payment portal updates at 10:30pm and so I decided to check at 11:30 and there it was... That sweet little message in red saying my case was not eligible for further processing at NVC and ... who cares! It's done, over with. I'm so glad I'm in time for a June interview.

Thank you to all of you at VJ who are my second family now for all the help, support, advice and courage you have provided me all along. Could never have done it without ya'll.

Now, where do I go to party? hmmm...

B-)B-)B-):dance::dance::dance:

3 months for an interview date in Turkey? Wow! I hope you don't have to wait that long.

Bear--If it's the same address for residence, it's I-864A. She CAN fill out a I-864 but it's better to go with the I864A since that's what the instructions state and besides it's an easier and shorter form.

Your household would be 4 -- you, your husband, your son and your mom.

And the both of your combined income/assets would need to be over the poverty guidelines for the household size.

Hope this helps.
