Do you guys know? If I want to switch sponsors, can I still do that? I'll need the new I-864 and their tax returns. What else? Would the old sponsors need to sign a letter retracting their sponsorship?

Yes, you can change joint sponsors at the interview. The I-864 technically doesn't come into force until the visa has been granted and the immigrant crosses at POE. As long as you have a reasonable answer as to why the switch is happening, you'll be fine. No need to have a statement from them retracting their sponsorship since it has technically not been enforced yet. If you want, you can explain it to the pre-screener and give them your new joint sponsor's I-864.

Call, hon! Unless it's expensive...

Hehe! Is there a way for you to do event planning/coordination here in the US, too?

no its no expensive calls to united states are treated like a national calls here..but I want my hubby to call...I always think that they give more information to the petitioner than the beneficiary

I really love the idea to keep working in the same area which I love..the chain of the hotel that I work is from Spain and they dont have hotels in USA only in Mexico...but I am checking the websites looking for jobs so I have something ready when I get there

Medical reasons should suffice, are you going to interview? And you'll have chat records; I would add any correspondence between you and parents-in-law, exchanging pics of the baby, etc.

Medical reasons are recognized - My senator's office said that the only reasons to expedite a case were medical and military (they have no love for love).

That is good to hear because we are in the same boat. We last saw each other in July 2009 and our son was born Nov 2009 so we haven't seen each other since. If NVC would hurry we WILL see each other soon right?

Hmmm... I wonder about that. They shouldn't, but I wonder if they do. I'll have to have Husby call Friday before he goes to bed (Friday AM in New Hampshire) and I'll call again Friday night before I talk to him (Friday PM in New Hampshire). I'll let you know how it goes.

Good luck finding something you enjoy!

Ok, I am back and I cant wait any longer for my SIF. When do they update the payment portal again? 9am and 3:30pm is it? Maybe I should try calling again and finding out what the heck's going on. But it discourages me everytime they ask me to wait some more.

What say people?

I say if it is going to frustrate you, just wait a bit. I know its hard to do (especially since I just called the AVR myself) but if you can hold out, do it. Distract yourself by surfing through VJ! I am sneaking a little work in every now and again!

So they update the AVR twice per day? I didn't know that! See what you learn from VJ?

Drive by hi, and congrats on the SIF/LIF.

I remember someone also asked if I got my e-mail for the RFE and I did. I didn't find it in my e-mail until late yesterday, but that was probably because I didn't check it. So it seems it took about 3 business days before it showed up.

Cixelsyd,

Great info! You sure have done your research. So you mentioned about proving that you have seen each other in the past year, well what happens when hubby & I havent seen each other in a year due to my pregnancy, our daughter being born almost 3mo early, etc. How will they interpet that? Should we be worried or?

Sorry about that, I misspoke about the year difference. It's actually a 2 year requirement. And I should have prefaced my points a little better to illustrate I was addressing a more general and broad audience. I know the 2 year requirement applies to K-1 visas, but I'm not 100% sure it applies to marriage visas.

However, at the least I wouldn't be surprised if a 2 year absence wouldn't throw a red flag for a CO to be more thorough. That's personal opinion based though, so take it with a grain of salt.

So no worries on the year apart. I'm willing to bet that's a pretty common situation.

I'm very glad many were able to find some use and piece of mind from the article. It's always nice to be able to give back to a community that has helped myself on many an occasion.

Well, I've been running around so I could overnight my RFE, which translates to -I've been neglecting my work. So I'd best get back on top of it and appear to be a productive member of society.

Good luck to everyone waiting on interviews and progress. And don't forget to exhale once in a while. None of us have an impossible case, so we're all going to make it.

No, he wasn't here either! That is the part of this process that's been the hardest. We had a boy and he hasn't even seen his son in person, let alone held him! I delivered Nov. 29 - a week late. LOL. Has your husband been able to visit? I am afraid of my son getting to that stage where he is familiar with everyone around him and then not really "taking" to his father when he finally does arrive. I'm sure I'm worrying uneccesarily.

No hubby hasn't met our daughter neither which is killing him. He wanted a little girl so bad! Yes, I too wonder after hubby gets here how will Gisele act towards him. As far as now she is pretty friendly with everyone but who knows a month from now.

Well, best of luck to you! Hope you SIF soon! Are you FB?
