I wouldn't say that I had assistance. How is his English? If it's enough to understand the forms then don't put anything.

I second this.

I think they're mostly concerned if some agency or lawyer assisted them in filling out the paperwork etc...

I'd venture to guess it wouldn't throw up a flag if they see you helped fill out the form (what good married couple wouldn't help each other? ), but change it if you still have the opportunity to do so. No reason to risk the ire of the RFE gods if you don't have to.

This is interesting because I had the same question and was "scolded" a bit for even considering not putting that I had helped my husband on there. The person stated that I should answer this question honestly. I figured that of course we are expected to help our SO's and not necessarily have to put it on the form. Anyway, I did end up putting that I helped him.

Cixelsyd, what type of RFE do you think one would get from disclosing this information?

just waiting for the AVR to update. they scanned the RFE on friday, so does anybody know how long it takes after they scan a document? any response would help. thank you

I think the average turn around is 8 days. Either way, I don't think it's too long.

This is one of those cases when you can split hairs one way or another as to if or not you were assisted with the application. Again, ultimately I think the intent of this question is to find out if anyone is conducting anything shady, or to help form a picture (like they're going through a lawyer). Personally, I interpreted it as "did a third party assist you".

Again, I would think it shouldn't matter if a spouse is listed.

What kind of RFE? Who knows. One thing I've noticed with filling out government docs is you should only apply adequate/accurate information to accomplish the intent. I'm not suggesting withholding facts about your case, but the more information you supply, the better chance there is to find something in it that could raise a question. Then you're stuck having to clarify either a misunderstanding or a harmless detail.

EX: You could submit your drivers license to them, but what if the address doesn't match the address you've listed on the paperwork. Now you have a needless potential problem

So to sum it up: if you've got skeletons in your closet, yes tell them, cause they will find out. Otherwise, try to avoid finding ways to hang yourself.

Also, some follow up:

I've been reading that getting the I-612 waiver can take a long time. I can't confirm this, but it's a heads up for anyone that does have the 2HHR.

Hubby had to get a waiver for the 2HHR & it took him about 4mo or so. But of course he did some bribing. He started while he was in US, did what he needed to do while in India & I finished it off here in US.

That's actually not too shabby at all. I think the average I was reading was about 6 months and longer.

So the people that originally applied for the K3, it took even longer? I noticed some people waiting 3+ months for their NOA2, always wondered why. [/color]

I was just being humorous saying we have been guinea pigs but yet I am saying that seems like NVC is speeding up based on some current timelines or maybe those ppl just got lucky!
