OK here's what I sent.

I used the barcode from the false rfe that said our 230 packet wasn't there (which it was).

Then I sent an explanation letter too that gave the operators name and time and date of my call as well as what paper I was including.

Pay attention, non-EP NVC noobs. Here's Christeen's time tested formula to get you through NVC in one piece alive:

Petitioner: Get NVC # + give operator your email IDs + receive AOS fee bill + pay 70$ online + wait to show paid + print cover sheet + send I-864 AOS with all documents and case # written on each page.

Beneficiary: Get NVC# + receive DS3032 + send DS3032+ DS3032 accepted + IV fee bill available to be paid + pay & wait to show paid + print IV cover sheet + mail DS230 package with all original/certified documents

= wait for case complete + wait for interview to be scheduled.

Here are just a couple of other little pointers to shore up any chance that NVC might misplace your docs (things that I did):

- sandwich all your docs between 2 copies of the barcode page ie put the barcode page in the FRONT AND BACK and write "Turn over please" on the back barcode. that way, regardless of which way the NVC officer opens up the package, it will be clear. yup its a bit paranoid, but it worked for me.

- the point about putting your case # on top of your docs. NVC itself in its correspondence tells you to do this. i believe the exact wording is "Write the applicant's case number in the upper right-hand corner of ALL documents" (in the IV bill correspondence they email you after you've paid your IV bill). What I did is take a little white label sticker and stick it to the URH of ALL my documents, including the original ones as well. for the original ones, i 1st put a transparent cello-tape on the URH and then put the sticker label on the cellotape; that way it can be removed. obviously each label had the case # written in pen (you can type this up and use a label maker if you have one).

- for the AOS package, i went a bit overboard and put colored tabs on each of the tax year docs, ie 2007 was green, 2008 was blue etc etc. whatever your organization is up to you, but just make sure it is clear. i guess you have to treat these nvc folks like 5 yr olds...

Did you ever receive anything is the mail from Mumbai Embassy (I believe you said you did). Hubby spoke to them & they told him he is not suppose to receive anything & to use the interview letter we got over email from NVC. IS that right or?

How much longer before I SIF??!!

I am really getting impatient now after waiting sooooo long. And all they need to do is enter my PCC in the system and call my case done. They received the RFE response on the 13th and opened the mail on the 20th. How difficult can it be to enter one stupid little piece of information in a computer. Bunch of nincompoops they are...

I hope I SIF in the next 2 days. I did call them and they said they recieved it but havent reviewed it yet. I mean come on, seriously? Review a PCC?

I just hope they dont come up with something else at this time. I've had enough of NVC. I need to move on to the next phase of waiting for the interview date assignment already...

HALP!!

Ok, now that I've got my panic help statement, here's the situation with my RFE:

My wife had a J-1 visa (2 separate ones to be exact). Now, it says on the visa it's not a 2 year provisional visa, however they still want a document stating such.

The operator said something about a signed statement, an exchange certificate or something about an I-612 document would show this.

She did give me a number to call, but I'm wondering how people have dealt with this before. What's the fastest/best method for dealing with this particular RFE?

Also, you think we'll need 1 for each visa, or just 1 document stating it's all gravy?

On another note: do they only have 1 phone line? That thing is insanely busy almost all hours.

Every time I try to picture the NVC, I see this place with the greatest technology the 1970's has to offer, with computers that take up entire rooms, stacks of folders reaching the ceiling, random papers blowing around like tumble weed and all of it run by 2 people and 1 intern.

SJ man, i truly feel your pain! I think you will get it this week. actually as long as you get it within the next 2 weeks, you should be in time for june interview. heck, I had my CC on the 14th and it would be really nice if NVC gave out interview dates when the cases get completed; seems like it does so for Delhi and Bombay, but not chennai - frustrating!!! so hang in there, dude! funny i just visited my wife last week and got back this AM from bangalore. one of the things i personally took care of is getting the PCC from the local police stattion (already got it from passport office). had to bribe the guy 1000 Rs to get the job done, but at least i feel good that I was there to help my wife get it...

anyway, you will get it this week - PICTURE it positively and it WILL happen!

Well being they switched from K3 to eveyone being CR1, we wore the first batch of people to be approved for that so it was going slow & now looks like it's speeding up.

Estrella may help you on this one. My hubby had a J1 Visa also & we wore RFE'd for that too. But I did sent a copy of it with the I130 which was also forworded to NVC but yet NVC is too lazy to look through all the paperwork so they figured its faster to RFE us. I called the supervisor & let her know that the paper is their which she said 10-15 days to review. Meanwhile, I mailed another one to them the same day. I SIF within 4-5 days (have to look at my time line). Good luck to you!
