--> Mini vent--> Ok, I love the US Postal Office. When you WANT them to deliver mail a little more slowly, that's when they speed up! Why would they try to deliver my mail on SATURDAY?! I sent it priority, not express! I love how this process makes me want to scream at every little thing! I have never used so many exclamation points in my life! LOL.

Generally interviews are scheduled during the second week of the month. While interviews are scheduled during the other weeks of the month as well--we received our appointment letter the last week of the month--those are usually for dates for the following month, not the next. For example, we received notice end of March for an interview in mid-May. Remember, some consulates do this. Not all.

so i hope today they approve my case at NVC. the AVR said that they checked in the RFE on friday. just hopeing i could get it done before the end of this week. does anybody know if they assign the interview dates at the NVC or do i have to wait till my packet reaches american embassy in new delhi ?

NVC assigns the dates for CR-1 visa based on the Embassy's availability. Then your package will be sent to New Delhi.

No, it's only the beneficiary's civil documents.

You can send it in together with the I864 or separately--doesn't matter as long as the barcodes are on top of the respective packages.

How do i know which barcode should go with my DS-230 package, the only barcode for me i see, is the one in the email that NVC sent me regarding my choice of agent..?Thanks

When your IV bill clears, you will be able to print out a barcoded cover sheet for your IV/DS230 package.

Just wondering... do some embassies give the dates the 2nd week of the month and others the last or all embassies get scheduled at either time?

Yes great question! soooo annoying that there's no SOP for this. i emailed my wife's embassy (Chennai India) and asked them if they possibly had a interview date for me, as my wife's CC was nearly 2 weeks ago. here's their response:

So of course i'm gonna be calling NVC on a daily basis now...just seems ridiculous that they seem to assign dates for the other 2 Indian consulates, but not for Chennai...shouldnt have to wait this long for an interview that will be scheduled 6 weeks in advance. its also not efficient, as folks then only have 3-4 weeks to get their medical done and hand in docs to the VFS (another idiotic middleman that the US consulates have outsourced collection of documents to in India)...

P.S - i'm back in NYC now after my 13 hr flight from Dubai and straight off to work. yup going on no sleep now for 24 hrs and counting...

Pay attention, non-EP NVC noobs. Here's Christeen's time tested formula to get you through NVC in one piece alive:

Petitioner: Get NVC # + give operator your email IDs + receive AOS fee bill + pay 70$ online + wait to show paid + print cover sheet + send I-864 AOS with all documents and case # written on each page.

Beneficiary: Get NVC# + receive DS3032 + send DS3032+ DS3032 accepted + IV fee bill available to be paid + pay & wait to show paid + print IV cover sheet + mail DS230 package with all original/certified documents

= wait for case complete + wait for interview to be scheduled.

Thank you Sachi for all your help.Ok, i was just reading on the NVC site , the ''Interview Preparation '' step states that i bring all my documents with me at the time of the interview,including birth and marriage certificates.I will send my ORIGINAL certificates with DS-230 package, so will i just have copies of them with me at the interview, since NVC will forward them to the embassy here?

now I have to wait for my Interview date... will be scheduled on second week of the month (might be on May 10th to 14th) ...well Tokyo Embassy conducts interviews only on Monday mornings... hope I can get the Interview early June...
