I just checked where you're supposed to get Birth Certificates from Jordan (the official us gov site).

It just says "Available"... not much help there.

It's not much use, but here's the link:

http://travel.state.gov/visa/frvi/reciprocity/reciprocity_3593.html

It's near the bottom btw.

Thank you so much!

Second operator was MUCH better! She spoke and read arabic. She said it wasn't the birth cert, but the marriage one.

We need something from the sharia (religious) court.

Calling hubby to check it out!

Thats good news. Not that you have to get some other piece of information, but that at least you know WHAT it is you have to get!

OK I am trying to calm down.

I am worried about this paper because we didnt have a wedding... judge came to our apartment and we married while sitting on the couch with 2 friends as witnesses!

But the next question, do they process an RFE faster than the whole packets we send? I mean it took 2 weeks for them to get our 230 packet and find this was missing after it all arrived April7!

Thinking there is no June interview in our future!

No, unfortunately, it takes about the same amount of time. 8-11 business days.

Some people have had it completed in about 7 days.

But the judge did give you a piece of paper right? Is there a requirement to have a specific type of wedding?

I'm just postulating here but there have been others who have received an RFE because they only sent in the English translation of their marriage contract. There have been a few RFE's for the original Arabic contract and this sounds a little like this is what it could be. Did you send in both Arabic and English? Have you received the checklist from the NVC yet to specifically outline what you need?

I sent englis and arabic. But from what a friend just told me, I think they need the court's copy of the marriage contract, not OUR copy. If that's it, it's crazy... they all say the same thing!

Thats the same way I felt when I mailed off our only original Marriage Certificate too! I pray they don't lose ours because it would be a disaster trying to get another one from Bangladesh! We'll just stay positive that we'll get our originals back safely.

Yes, the copy is ok for the I-130 but they need originals at NVC. They will give them back at the interview. I know what you mean though. The original Arabic and the certified English translations we only have one copy of each and had to send them in to NVC. That's why I did the signature confirmation and I put on the cover letter to please return the documents to my husband at the interview.

She can use the barcode sheet from the IV bill. She doesn't have to wait for the RFE email.

Ally either way is fine. You can use the same barcoded sheet you used for the DS230 OR you can wait for the RFE email to come and print out the new one.

If you are sure this is the only thing missing, then just print the barcode you have and send it off ASAP.

Make sure to write in big letters: RFE RESPONSE FOR CASE NUMBER ABCXXXXXXX.

You may also want to make your own cover list explaining that was a response for RFE bla bla bla and add the barcoded sheet as well.

That's how I did and worked out just fine.

Good luck dear!
