just called the nvc. turns out we filled our ds 230 wrong. we put where my husband lived since birth and not since he was 16 even though its the same address. how long do you think this will delay our time?

If your IV packet just went in, wait a couple of days for the AVR to update. It usually lags 3 days behind.

A week is nothing... LOL!

My 230 packet arrived April 7 and the AVR still doesn't show it! But an operator told me yesterday they have some mail from me but it isn't opened... it has been 15 days now!

I am calling for an operator again tomorrow. I can't handle much more waiting!

yikes! i could barely handle a week.. you had to go through 2

they told me the same thing.. they keep saying that they have mail from me unopened.. i sent in my AOS a couple of weeks ago, and just acknowledged it at the end of last week. then they RFE's me for my IV packet which was sitting in their mailroom..

good luck with your call tomorrow.. might nudge them to finally do something!

If I have nominated myself as the choice of agent, but I'm in Australia and don't have an American bank account, can I get my mum/sister to complete the online payment using their bank details?

I don't really want to use a money order :/

Ok, today's progress. Got email saying Choice of Agent is accepted, AOS bill shows paid, paid IV bill, sent AOS packet. WOW, NVC is fast! In almost a week from NVC receiving my case I will have sent everything. Hoping for no RFE's.

Once you send a new DS230 in, it'll be another 10 business days or so before your LIF.

i did that same thing and i got a case complete with no problems. the document asks for the dates that you lived there. if you lived there since birth you just put the birth year to present.

maybe whoever you talked to on the phone was too clueless to realize that. or maybe they misunderstood you.

did you get an actual RFE? if not you should be fine.

We had the same RFE, but the operator couldn't tell us why, she said "the most common mistake..." Unless the RFE checklist has been generated they can't tell you why, just that it is wrong.

A few reasons it could be wrong:

-the final date doesn't read xx/xx/xx - PRESENT

-more than a six month gap

-incomplete or missing info
